“A Lovely Bed & Breakfast near Franklin, TN”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2008

Dwight & Sherry are delightful and gracious hosts who made our stay a relaxed and comfortable getaway. The B&B is everything promised and more. A beautiful horse country house, with comfortable rooms and wonderful full country breakfasts were just the ticket to make our stay most enjoyable. The east facing front porch with several rocking chairs makes an inviting place to watch the sun rise with a cup of coffee, and there is a resident flock of wild turkeys that roam the fields in search of breakfast in the morning hours. Dwight said they've even been up on the porch! The peace and quiet were a welcome change from the noise of the city. Franklin is a short drive from the B&B for those in need of shopping or dining experiences, and the area history is easily explored.

We wanted a nice get away from everything, and it was just that. Dwight and Shirley were very friendly and the home was nice and warm. This was our first of many B&B stays, and we were treated wonderful and the breakfast was great. We woke up to the smell of freshly made french toast and bacon. Being a young couple we didnt know what to expect, this was a very nice retreat. I don't know how anyone could not like the Inn; Dwight was very interesting he seemed to be a historian at heart, and his wife and family were quite delightful. To sum it up, go and try the Inn, I think you will be impressed.

From the moment we drove in the driveway and saw the horses grazing on both sides of the fence, we fell in love with the Inn at Walking Horse Farm. My husband booked our reservations - he wanted to make it special for me. He knew how much I love horses. He also knew that I grew up on a farm. It was so peaceful being a farm again. The Inn reminded us of an old plantation home on the outside with large colonades at the front entrance, and a second floor porch. The lower porch had large wooden lounging chairs and the upper porch had a swinging love seat - both porches had a pastoral view of the rolling hills and the horses. The back patio was very nice - with many lounge chairs for sunning and relaxing.

Our hosts Dwight and Sherry were very helpful with directions to attractions in both Franklin, where they are, and Nashville. They were so approachable and friendly that at many times we could sit down and talk to them like old friends. Hard to find better folk than these two.

We found the animals were a huge attraction for us, living in the city (Toronto, Canada) we don't have much interaction with animals, and you forget how wonderful they are to be around. From their dog and kittens to the horses - all were gentle and friendly.

We had a wonderful room in the Inn, and the freedom to roam throughout the common areas: sitting/tv room or the upstairs billiard room, which made the Inn feel more like home.

Hot breakfasts were excellent!

We stayed two nights, and wished we had planned a longer stay - it was just so peaceful and priceless. As my husband would say during our stay, "you just can't get this at a Holiday Inn".

We highly recommend you visit Dwight and Sherry at the Inn at Walking Horse Farm.

The Inn at Walking Horse Farm is a dishonorable business and our experience with them was simply terrible. If you are planning a wedding, I would look elsewhere.

We booked our wedding date with them and put down a deposit, only to have him call us two weeks later (after we had already told everyone our wedding date) and tell us "oops, sorry, I double-booked your date - you'll have to reschedule."

Absolutely unacceptable. This man made my fiancee cry.

We were never vague about our date, and they told us numerous times that it was available. As a result, it was too late for us to find an acceptable alternative location for that date. We had to change the day and some of our guests, including relatives and close friends from overseas, could not attend.

It seems to me that if you were running a wedding business the cardinal sin would be to double-book (or as we suspect, just give away) the date. Well, that's what they did. These people cannot be trusted.

  • Liked — Not having to deal with them any more.
  • Disliked — The fact that they screwed up our wedding plans.

After 10 years and hundreds of weddings, bed & breakfast guests, special events and many extremely pleased patrons and guests, I find the comments made by xcorley exaggerated and grossly misrepresent the situation. We realized our error within 2 weeks of drawing up a contract for a wedding 6 MONTHS away, refunded all money, offered other dates, and offered help in finding another place, and expressed our sincere regrets for our human error.

Sincerely,
Dwight & Sherry Stacey, owners

I would definately NOT advise staying at this B&B. During our nights stay prior to a wedding event at this venue, we were not treated as valued guests, but as though we were a hassle and a bother to the proprietor. The "rules" of the B&B were numerous to the point of absurdity. The food was mediocre at breakfast and the "catered" wedding dinner was just awful. Most disturbing was the fact that the proprietor felt free to enter our room at anytime he chose whenever we were not there. Even going so far as to MOVE the brides wedding dress. Steer Clear.
