Description: Open about a month, Okra is making a splash in Fayetteville and as far away as Huntsville, Al and Franklin, TN. The food is Southern with a flair. This is the only restaurant in Fayetteville with a trained Chef and the quality of the food shows the results of careful training coupled with imagination. Blue Plate special at lunch changed daily as does the dinner special. More up-scale (table cloth and candles) at night.

“Incredible in all aspects!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

My wife and I have visited Okra many times and have taken guests. We've been there in the busiest of times and the quietest of times and have never been disappointed. The ambience is excellent, the food is superb, and the service is friendly, yet focused. The Blue Plate lunch is full of excellent variety with the only problem is having to make up your mind between the blue plate and the items on the menu. The sandwiches and sides are superb. Evening dining is more subdued and the menu will knock your socks off. I recommend this restaurant to all and is well worth any drive-time you may have to come from other areas to visit. And, if you live in Lincoln County and haven't tried Okra, you're missing out.

“Worth a Stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

We were in Fayetteville for a visit to the best small-town liquor store in Middle Tennessee (Strong's on 231S) and decided to find a lunch spot. After inquiring at a local antique shop, off to Okra we went. With our teenager om tow, we wanted a nice lunch with good options for the picky eater. I had the lunch special which was baked chicken with peaches. There were choices of about ten sides. Of course, I selected the fried okra (exquisite, in an Old South kind of way) and the tomato-cucumber salad, also a nostalgic reminder. My husband had the club sandwich, which was piled high with turkey, and being the stickler for healthy sides that he is, added green beans, although I understand you can no longer substitute side items. Our teen ordered the burger with cheese and the french fries - real fries, cut with the peel on and deep-fried. Yummy! This is a small venue with local charm located on the West Side of the town square. Parking is free on the street. At night, Okra goes more "fine dining." I don't know if they have a liquor license or if you have to brown-bag. Overall, we had a delightful time. Okra is quite a change from the plethora of buffet restaurants in Fayetteville and would be a good option whatever other choices were available.

“Good food but kinda expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2012

Went here pretty much a few weeks after they opened. The art work on the walls were impressive, and even the waitress that carried her baby with her was sweet. I wasnt impressed with hush puppy shrimp thing,.. I thought it was going to be shrimp with hush puppies,.. not in them,.. they would of been better if they were a little less done,.. im use to a golden brown hush puppy; not a dark almost black color. I had the lamb (me and my guest had to split a plate since it was about $50 for 1 plate ) the lamb was good,.. but i would ask them to leave off the breadding,.. just made it soggy. The cranberry salad was good.** also Im not sure when i visited,.. so i just basically picked a date ***

“A nice surprise in Fayetteville”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2012

I drove down from Nashville for lunch after reading reviews of Okra and was very pleased. The blue plate lunch was well prepared and presented at a reasonable price.

If you're taking an excursion in the area or driving from Nashville to Huntsville on I-65, consider making the detour over to Fayetteville for a great meal.
