“Dependable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

Eaten here several times and always the same. Good atmosphere and when in doubt come here. Reasonably priced and nice outdoor area. It isn't great but it is good.

“Not so clean...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

I've been twice. The food was pretty good, but the restaurant didn't feel clean. I know, I know. It's a local tradition; it's a college hang-out. But I don't enjoy having lunch where the tables and floor are sticky from beer spilled the night before. The chairs are also badly in need of repair. The outdoor bar area REEKS of cigarette smoke. I posted a similar review about a year ago and it has "disappeared". Let's see if this one makes the cut.

“Great food, great beer, great bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

These place just oozes atmosphere - in a positive way. The menu is way beyond "bar food" and will satisfy just about any taste. The cheesy bread is addictive - watch out!

Excellent selection of beers. Regular live music.

“great lunch, great price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

Had a hamburger for lunch here. Only had to wait a little bit before order was ready. Service was really good. They had a cheese bread appetizer that was simply great. I definitely would visit again.

“Try Spankies on Sundan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

Spankies has become a Sunday tradition. The counter and bar staff are relaxed, friendly and helpful. The food is excellent as always and lunch portions are available. The homemade desserts are usually freshly stocked in the case and unlike the evenings, Sunday lunch is self service. This means groups can settle in for a good visit with no guilt about tying up a table... and no one is counting the cheese bread slices.

My only complaint with Spankies is that one enters through the covered tent where all the smokers sit. We used to enjoy sitting outside but that option is no longer available to those avoiding smoke. Disappointing.
