I took my best friend for her birthday luncheon on Saturday around 1:30, so most of the crowds had gone. Our friendly hostess, Ruth, seated us at a table with a white cloth, told us our waiter would be Gino, and that he would take good care of us. Handsome young Gino was very attentive, bringing our iced teas right away and giving us a few moments to consider the varied menu. I ordered the Panini with blue crab, which came with a veggie pasta, and my friend ordered the crawfish etoufee. Gino brought those in record time and was often by our table to refresh our tea and to inquire if we needed anything. The entrees were absolutely delicious and very filling, but we couldn't resist the upside down Pumpkin Pie, served warm, w/ice cream. Both of us agreed we had never tasted such a wonderful dessert. Upon leaving, we met the owner, who inquired about our lunch. We couldn't say enough wonderful things about the ambience, Gino, and the great food, plus we wanted the recipe for the pie. Turns out it is a cherished family recipe, and his wife makes their desserts every day. What a great team, and what an experience we enjoyed! I am happy to recommend this lovely restaurant to anyone who wants something a little bit different from the ordinary Southern small-town fare.
