“Come for the bread... Stay for the food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012 via mobile

I love fresh baked bread so when my own bread maker went on the Fritz I had to find a place with fresh baked bread this is the place to go. All of the bread is amazing and their bread sticks are a family favorite. I always go get bread around lunch so I can eat as well. The service isn't always the best but the bread makes up for the lacking personality of the staff.

“Fresh food, always busy!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

Silke's is a great lunch spot if you want to avoid the burger and fries routine. They probably have one of the most varied menus in town, including several vegan and vegetarian dishes. Their salads are fresh, tasty, and a reasonable size, their pizza is good, and their sandwiches will appeal to individuals who enjoy European style sandwiches. They have several soups every day (even when the temperature is over 100 degrees) and they are popular with the customers. Lunch will run about $10 per person. Silke's is close to the university and quite popular with the university faculty. If they are busy, it can take a while to get your food because they prepare things as they are ordered. They have a variety of European artisan style breads and sweet rolls every day and the most popular can sell out quickly, so if you see it in the case, better get it! They have coffee drinks, but I have not tried those.

Silke is also an artist and has been graciously displayed work by local artists in the bakery since she opened. Most of the pieces are for sale. There is also a children's play area.

“Little Germany”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

If you are ever in Clarksville, Tennessee, don't miss a visit to Silke's restaurant and cafe. The German owner created a piece of Germany with her great selection of freshly baked breads, cakes, and menu items. The atmosphere is very authentic and includes a play corner for children. Just added was an outdoor patio which is something you find everywhere in restaurants in Germany. The food and ambiance in this restaurant will not disappoint you!

“small business charm”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2011

A friend invited me to join her for breakfast there. Cosy atmosphere. Selling stuff in shop other than food. Ok, look see what they have. Food: fresh but not impressive to my palate. Not rushing back to eat there. Over priced.
