We drove an hour and 1/2 from my parents house for a two night/3 day mini vacation. We did alot of the 'tourist' things;
The Aquarium-always entertaining-great for smaller kids-but even our teenager enjoyed the butterfly room!
I would have to say pass on their new 'river explorer' boat ride-it was ok at best-didnt see a whole lot of anything-but might be prettier in the fall when the leaves are turning.
Good place to eat-Sticky Fingers BBQ. There is one Downtown and at the Hamilton Place exit off of i-75. YUMMY!!
A must do is go over to the North Shore-and explore the many locally owned shoppes-just go early in the day-we went around 6 and everything closed by 7.Good Dogg-has the best hot dogs ever!
Dont waste your $$ on the 'ghost tour'. It was alot of walking-which would be ok-if you where going to see something-alot of-"ok-a building used to be here but now it is a Chili's parking lot".
Rock City is a go-if you are up for a BIG walk-and steps-and creepy knomes everywhere.
Dont waste your time or money on Ruby Falls!!
The incline is ok-but once you have been on one-they are all pretty much the same.
4+ stars for the Chanticleer Inn B+B up on Lookout Mountain-GREAT stay!!
On day 3 we decided on our way out of town to go white water rafting-after driving over an hour-and finally finding the place-we where told that no boats go out on Tues or Wed. (wouldnt that have been nice of her to tell me that on the phone-when i had called the day earlier!!!) So we ended up at a level 1-2 (another 30 minutes away) and took the lazy river rafting-it was ok-if we hadnt had kept getting stuck on rocks. Sounded like a good idea at 12:30 In the day-but at 6pm when we where leaving-and then had a 2 hour drive back to my parents-made for a very LONG DAY!!
all in all-if you never have been to 'nooga' as they call it-it is worth a weekend trip!!

This was our 3rd visit to Chattanooga. There is just so much to see and do! Summer is a great time to go because you can spend all day just hanging out in downtown. Let the kids wear their swimsuits or something you don't mind them getting wet, and they can play in the little creaks/rivers that run through the sidewalks around the aquarium. There is a playground by the river and the kids favorite is a steep hill that kids slide down on cardboard! Sounds silly, but it is great to just sit and let them play and not have to worry or stess about anything for awhile! Also a big plus is the kids love it, the parents love it, and it's free! On this visit we took a tour on the Duck, this is a must-do! We went for the Fourth of July weekend. It was great. This is such a nice city to visit. Before going check around there are TONS of coupons and discounts to be found for this area. We ate at Cheeseburger Cheeseburger...SOOO good!!! We also ate at Sticky Fingers...YUM!! I had coupons for both restaurants, the DUCK, and Racoon Mountain (a cave at the bottom of lookout mountain also has go -carts). I saved over $25.00 just in coupons! The only thing we will do different next time is plan a day to do nothing! You need an entire day just to site see. There is a walk across bridge (very neat) with a park on the other side(Coolidge park). We walked over there for the fireworks, but didn't really get to just look around, so next time we will plan a day for nothing but site seeing and letting the kids play in the water and slide down the hill. Doesn't sound like much, but the kids have been to caves, the aquarium, rode the DUCK, seen firewirks, and their favorite part of it all was just hanging out and playing. Great place for an affordable get away!

We were in Chattanooga over Memorial Day weekend and found plenty to do. The expected - Ribs, Lookout Mountain, Rock City and Ruby Falls. But we were really pleased with the modern feel of the city from the updated downtown area, the developed Riverfront area and the arts communities. The dining options were varied and interesting, not to mention serving excellent food. Free concerts on the weekends in the summer give you some free options along with the paid admissions. Stay in or close to downtown it will be worth it.

I went to Chattanooga. I had a really,really good time. While there I visited their aquarium. I rode the train up the side of the mountain. I'm from Ohio and I had never seen a mountain before in my life. I also visited a cave that they had on the mountain which had art work built into the inside. There was also flowing lava on the inside of it!!!! That was nice. Last but not least once you got to the top of one of the mountains you could look out over the cliff and see seven diffrent states. Now that was scary but the best part of the trip. Over all I had alot of fun!!!!!

Very eclectic shopping in North Chattanooga. I especially enjoyed Frazier avenue and a great store on North Market Street called Sophie's. It is worth going to if you go to Chattanooga. I loved it!!!!
