“Great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2009

What is there to say? This is a Marriot and it is a nice hotel. My spouse and I went to Chattanooga for a weekend away and stayed here. We had a great experience there and the staff was friendly/helpful.

Positives: Nice, clean hotel room with toiletries from Bath & Body Works. There is a bus stop for the free electric shuttle right outside the hotel. Also had indoor/outdoor pool and exercise room (we didn't use these). We did have a few drinks in the lounge with a very pleasant bartender, though. Also, we were able to get a rate for a King room at around $90/night.

Negatives: Have to pay $10/night for parking in the parking garage. Not really a big deal, but I always think of parking as included in a hotel stay.

I would recommend staying here. Next time, we might try to stay at the other Marriot downtown and bypass the shuttle (though it is easy and an incredibly short ride).

The rooms here were simply average and what you'd expect from this type of hotel. Comfortable beds, nice tv, small bathroom. The service was outstanding. We were booked next to a room with a family that were quite loud and the front desk had no problem moving us to a quieter location down the hall. Also, EVERYBODY in the hotel asked us if we needed suggestions or directions for traveling in Chattanooga. The valet, front desk and even a waitress at the hotel bar. They were all great. Location is good since there is a bus stop to Chattanooga's free electric shuttle right outside the doors. I would recommend staying here and then using the shuttle system to get around. Value was great. We got a great deal online so the room was a little over $120.00, which was a tad bit inexpensive given our experience. It was irritating that the gift shop was closed since it was a holiday weekend. People travel on weekends, especially holiday weekends, so I felt that it was ridiculous to have the gift shop closed. Overall, great value for an average to above-average hotel.

It's an older hotel where the rooms have been updated nicely. We had a room directly across from the ice machine and coke dispenser, one room away from the elevator. A priceline special, under $100 per night, and with $11 parking it came to $110 tax included. The room was first rate. Noise was minimal, except for rude people yacking in the hall and getting ice. The hotel was clean with wear showing in the elevators. Pool and hot tub were murky, hot tub needed repair. Both fitness area and pool are not large as depicted in the hotel promotional photos, very small actually. Bed very nice, lots of pillows. LCD TV. Nice.
Free shuttle picks up you at hotel door every 5 minutes to take you to attractions. Also there is a open air parking lot directly across the street for only 5 bucks a day. So you can just leave your car at the hotel. One block north is the City Cafe Diner. Eat there. Its attached to the Days Inn, you will not be disappointed. Yummy.

We found a great deal on this hotel and we were very happy we did. We were upgraded to a King size bed with a pull-out sofa bed that worked great for our two year old. The hotel restaurant was surprisingly good and reasonably priced - the breakfast buffet for $9 was great! Valet parking is a little expensive, but I saw a pay lot next door if you want to save a few dollars.

Some reviews were bad but part of the problem was because the rooms weren't renovated yet. the rooms we stayed at were REALLY nice and had a LCD TV(flat screen) and everything was new. One thing that was a bit annoying was the piece of lettuce laying on the carpet right next to the bathroom and the rooms were a little small. but other than that 100% recommendation .

Is it worth the full price, no way. But we booked on priceline and got the room for under $100/night. The room was clean and the bed/linens were so comfortable. All the staff we encountered were great. They were helpful and friendly. We ordered room service, very pricey, but it was good. Parking was listed as $18/day but we hit a special and it was only $10/day. And the bath amenties are from bath & body works so that was a nice touch. We used the indoor pool and my hubby used the gym. Both were great. We had a great view of the mountains from our room and that was a plus. City Cafe is 2 blocks down they're open 24/7 with great food! The Electric Shuttle picks up right outside and it was very easy to hop on and get down to the river area. We'll stay here again if we can get a better rate than this time.

I stayed at this Marriott on November 19 & 20, 2008 in Room 826. They have redone the carpet and bedding and fitness center since I was there last. Nice upgrades. Check-in is easy and the elevators are fast. The room is clean and has plenty of space. You are pretty close to the restaurants and activities downtown but it is a far walk so I would take my car. Eat at Lupis Pizza, Yum! Get doughnuts at Kochs Bakery, double YUM!

The bad: The parking garage is tight so you SUV owners may want to rent a small car. It isn't too close to the lobby either so be prepared if you have more than 1 bag. The biggest complaint I have is the walls are paper thin. I could hear the entire conversation of the room next to me.

This is THE place to stay in Chattanooga especially if you are doing something at the convention center. Nice place with plenty to do close by.
