This hotel sits right off I-75 about 15 minutes from the downtown area in a cluster of hotels near the big mall with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. I chose it based on TripAdvisor reviews and the price compared to other local hotels. It met our needs perfectly. As a mom traveling alone with two school-age kids I appreciated being put on the second floor-- we had an external entrance but the elevator required a room key to access. We felt secure. The area around the hotel is typical suburban hotel area. While I would prefer to stay downtown, previous experience in Chattanooga made me choose the more suburban hotel in this case-- some of the areas downtown feel more run-down than others. It was a good decision as we didn't arrive to check in until 10pm from the Atlanta area. Despite the late arrival the staff was pleasant and efficiently got us in our room. We slept well-- the rooms were on the smaller side, yes, but bright, clean and comfortable with a cheery, up-to-date decor. The space was just right for a stay overnight. (We might have felt more cramped if we had planned to stay in the room for more than one night though).
The breakfast was good and there was variety (hard-boiled eggs, waffle maker, yogurt, bagels, muffins, fruit), however the breakfast area is very small with heavy chairs that are difficult to move. The space was crowded at 7am on a Friday morning (breakfast served 6-9am). Brush your hair and teeth before you go down because you'll be in close proximity to humanity before your morning coffee! We left after breakfast to explore the city. All in all a very pleasant stay. The TripAdvisor reviews are accurate and unless you are brand loyal to Fairfield/Marriott and expect this hotel to be something other than what it is, you won't be disappointed.
I had read a review about alternate parking in a nearby restaurant parking lot and just wanted to clarify that should that be necessary, the restaurant parking lot is separated from the hotel parking lot by no more than a narrow, grassy median. It is a very logical place to park if the hotel lot is full.
