“Unique Lodging Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

It's not everday you get to spend the night in a floating hotel with such a rich history. The boat is docked at Coolidge Park within easy walking distance to restaurants, shopping, attractions, and the infamous Walnut Street pedestrian bridge. An excellent southern buffet breakfast is included, but I will warn you the biscuits are addictive.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the port side (river view).

Being a wooden boat buff, my review may be somewhat slanted. This grand old lady and national treasure is in dire need of some serious TLC! A beautiful grand saloon whose bright work is crying out for fresh varnish and rotted window sashes in the dining room you can practically stick your hand thru. That being said it is still a great experience and a glimpse of history that I could have never afforded when she was still plying the river. Great proximity to downtown and once you park your car you probably won't need it again. Walking bridges over the river, commute bikes you can ride all over town, park in locked slots and retrieve later or just leave there if you are done. Staff was helpful but not that informative(no help at all on where to park unless you use their valet service). And the guided tour of the ship was not available the day we were there. Breakfast was included and was better than most complimentary hotel breakfasts but do not expect 4 star quality or variety.

Room Tip: Spring for one of the more expensive staterooms off the main saloon. If not you will end up exiting...

The boat is tired to say the least and in dire need of repair. The cleanliness of our room was questionable. Parking none existent. Breakfast was pretty good. That said it was an experience I wouldn't have missed, we had a great laugh sleeping in bunks. However if you expect too much of the experience you'll be very disappointed.

Moored on the Tenn. River next to Cooledge Park. Great views from your cabin and public areas. Location is convenient to the Carousel, old walking bridge to Bluff center where there's the new Hunter Museum and Mansion. Accomodations are lovely, old time decor and comfortable beds. Full hot buffet breakfast was included. We enjoyed our drinks and dinner watching the new moon. Downtown is very convenient and you can walk to the Aquarium.
Staff was very accomodating. Since the ambiance is early last century, there's no TV in the room, that's a plus. We hope that the Delta Queen enjoys many, many more years, as a special place to stay.

Room Tip: Request from reception. River view.

Food is excellent! Service is super--check in/out, servers. Robes in room for your use. Cookies in room. Board games to play, books to read. Be sure to watch the 40 min. movie about the Delta Queen. Just ask one of the attendants to play it for you.

We stayed on the Delta Queen in October 2012 to celebrate our ruby wedding and we had a wonderful time. The 2 days we spent at the hotel which is a Riverboat on the Tennessee River was different and included in our stay was a tour of the engine room and Bridge. Not many hotels can offer such tours! The staff on the Delta Queen were great and the food was of a good standard. The accomadation was cramped but the hotel room is a cabin on board a Boat. Enjoyed Chattanooga and walked over Veterans bridge in to town. Went to the Chickamauga National Military Park which gives a great insight to the American Civil War a good day there. The Delta queen is a US historical monument and is full of of the history of the famous and not so famous who have walked her decks. It is a pity that the she no longer sails down the river.A great experience and many thanks to all the staff on board

Room Tip: Book a deluxe room on the lower deck

Some of you people are being too hard on the Delta Queen. Yes, the rooms were small... Hello, it is a ship. Rooms are always small. They were clean, the service was excellent and the food was outstanding.
