“Don't go”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012 via mobile

My wife and I stayed for the total of 2 hrs. We drove almost 4 hrs to get there. The bed was nice but the room is small and the bath room was horrible, the musty smell was in the whole room. The windows would not lock or stay open. Which is the only way to circulate air since there is no ac or heat not even a fan. Also there is a huge bridge near by so all you hear is traffic, and last the food sucks oh my God I can't even explain. So in my review there is amazing history of the boat but not worth anymore interest than just reading a book or brochure.

We at the delta Queen would like to apologize for your disappointment with our hotel and our service. We were especially concerned about the food comments, as our Chef Joyce has received accolades on her shrimp and grits, catfish, and other New Orleans dishes.
We wish you would return and give us another chance to please you!

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary, we thought it was going to be a good experience, but it was HORRIBLE!!!! We had no heat, no hot water, the toliet barely flushed.Checkout was at 11:00 but we got out by 8:45 we could not stay another minute. I would not recommend anyone to stay here.

We came up to celebrate a early Valentines Day, and we had a blast. The cabins are small, but you can make it work. There was a Mardi Gras party on the boat while we was there, so we was not able to eat on the boat. It is walking distance to the Coolridge Park and you can take the walk way bridge across the river to get to the downtown area of Chattanooga. We are already planning our next stay on this wonderful historic riverboat.

We are glad you chose the Delta Queen to celebrate an early Valentine's Day. She is a charming albeit somewhat old vessel, and we're glad you enjoyed your visit. Please come back soon!

Thank you for your comments about your recent stay with us. And many thanks for acknowledging that she is an 85 year old vessel, and that brings some issues. However, she is charming, and I think you enjoyed your stay.
Come back and stay with us in Cabin 109!

We stayed on the Delta Queen the weekend of Jan 27, and I booked a stay with one of their on-line specials they were advertising. The staff was wonderful, the rooms were very nice (if small) and the food at the on-board restaurant was great. The only complaint I had was that the showers were luke-warm. Our bed was big and comfy, the room was clean, and the public areas were clean and comfy as well. It's within walking distance to several restaurants, and if the weather is nice the downtown area & the aquarium are right across the pedestrian bridge from where the ship is docked. The ship is almost 100 years old and they are in the process of updating things, and it does show its age. But it's a one-of-a-kind place to stay, and we had a great time.

Room Tip: Room 109 is supposedly haunted by the ghost of Mrs. Greene :-) Our river-side room got very warm in...

Staying on this floating monument to our steamboating history is a privilege. We have been on the American Queen, and wanted so much to stay on the original Delta Queen. I chose a surprise visit to Chattanooga to celebrate my wife's birthday, and booked cabins for us and for my daughter and son in law. Everything went without a hitch. Parking was no problem at all, despite the construction at Renaissance Park. Breakfast was great, and our cabins were great too -- obviously, this is a National Historic monument, don't expect huge luxury hotel suites! The common rooms were of course beautiful, and rocking on the deck overlooking the Tennessee River is worth the price of admission all by itself. If you like walking, as we do, the North Shore location is ideal -- right next to the pedestrian bridge over the river. We had a great time.

Definitely not a Hilton but if you are interested in experiencing the 1920's its worth it. This hotel is actually a Steamboat that has been around for ages. It has since been tied to shore and converted into a hotel. Choices in rooms are Bunk, Standard, and Suite... or something like that. Bunk rooms are TINY, but convenient for a short, one-night stay.

I'd suggest looking up reviews on hotels.com or somewhere else just so you aren't surprised. Rooms do not come equipped with televisions, microwaves, or the other 'leisure' conveniences that larger chains would offer but the experience is worth it, in my book anyway.
