“Well worth the money!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2011

We did an evening cruise (leaving at 6:00). Captain Dave and his crew were the best. He is very informed not only about the river but about the surrounding area, giving details along with historical information. A buffet meal was served at the beginning of the cruise, bbq pork and shredded bbq chicken, along with potato salad, cole slaw, chips and brownies/pastries for dessert. He pointed out multiple points of interest along the shore, and pointed out various birds and their nests. Our cruise was just short of 3 hrs, even though the advertised time was around 2 1/2 hrs. If I had to find a complaint, it would be that when we first boarded the interior of the boat just a little warm; evidently the air-conditioning had not been on very long. But then again it was the 2nd of July, and 96 degrees outside!! We are considering going back in November just so we can take one of his Hiwassee wildlife cruises. I was not disappointed, don't think anyone else will be!!

“Excellent Eco-Tour on the beautiful Tennessee River”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2011

This 3 hour excursion with lunch included, was led by a knowledgeable guide (Captain) who pointed out, not only the wildlife along the river but gave us a lot of information about the history of the region, especially concerning the Cherokee Indians and the Trail of Tears". The River Gorge area is so natural and "un-commercial"....and must be even more beautiful in the Fall of the year. We would come back and "do it again"!

“Blue Moon River Cruise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2011

I took my family on the Blue Moon on Saturday the 16th. I have done this for several years for birthdays. Captain Dave and crew are personable and very friendly. I think this is a little known gem that is worth trying.
Captain Dave gives an excellant narration of the history of the river and the wild life in the area. The river cruise is a 2 1/2 hour cruise on the river and gorge. Relaxing.

“One of the hidden treasures of Chattanooga”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2011

We enjoyed very much the Hiawassee Island Eco Cruise which is only in January & February. The purpose is to observe birds that have migrated here for the winter. The boat was quite nice and comfortable. The lunch was a "serve yourself" style buffet of BBQ sandwiches, chips, potato salad and cole slaw. Slices of cake and brownies for dessert. It was all delicious and made for a very relaxed setting. I cannot believe the variety of birds we saw - Sandhill Cranes, Bald Eagles, Whooping Cranes, Blue Cranes, Swan, to name a few. Within minutes of leaving the shore, the buildings disappear and you are seeing just wilderness for most of the journey. The crew was very knowledgeable about the area and generally helpful. The sightings were announced over the intercom. Our whole family enjoyed it. It was a very unique experience.
