“Better than the rating! We will stay here again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2012

I don't understand why this hotel is rated so poorly on the TripAdvisor website. There is something strange with the ranking process because at the time I write this post (April 2012) the hotel is showing an overall rating of 3.5 out of 5, yet is ranked well below other hotels with ratings about 2 - 2.5. we made the decision to stay here after reading the comments and we were quite happy about that decision. This was our first visit to Chattanooga but we plan to be back often as a member of the family is moving there, and we will certainly stay at this hotel again. For its price range, I think the hotel deserves 5 out of 5.

With regard to the hotel itself, we found that most of the comments from previous travelers are accurate, and so you just need to consider whether the hotel will suit your preferences. For example, it is one of the 'original' style Sleep Inns with the pod shower which, while I can understand some people prefer a bath, we find to be very spacious and far better than the showers in most hotels in this price range which seem to have added a shower spray and an often dingy curtain as a second thought to a bathtub.

The hotel is very clean and in excellent condition. I did not see the comment about smoking rooms on the third floor until after our stay so unfortunately I am unable to comment on that concern. Assuming that the hotel does still have a couple of smoking rooms, I would not have been happy to be located near them and my review probably would not be so positive. I can appreciate the need/desire for smoking rooms, and actually I'd prefer that a hotel offers them because otherwise there is inevitably smoke near the entrance. But it is necessary that the hotel include adequate ventilation to prevent smoke from drifting into the hallways and/or adjacent rooms. As a result, I'd advise requesting a room on the 2nd floor.

The rooms have microwaves and refrigerators. Our laptops connected with the free wireless wifi quickly and easily; the connections speed was more than adequate for e-mail and flight confirmation though not lightning fast and may not be good for video downloads (we didn't try). We found the heat worked well on a chilly night. Not new (except for the TV in our room which was indeed a new flatscreen) but the management seems to replace carpet, furniture, and fittings when required rather than ignore problems or make do with an inadequate repair.

In addition to cereal, bagels, mini-muffins and danish pastry, breakfast includes hot waffles and a selection of fresh fruit. I think they usually have hard boiled eggs but the tray for those was empty and we didn't have time to wait for a refill.

The location is about 4 miles / 10 minutes from the airport, and as others have mentioned is in a safe area with several restaurant options within easy walking distance. It is very close to the interstate and easy to find. There is some traffic noise but none of the rooms actually face the highway and we didn't find the noise as objectionable as some of the other comments implied.

A couple of comments referred to the hotel as not being very good value for money. The price seemed to be a little higher than Sleep Inns in other nearby cities, but that seems to be the case with all of the hotels in Chattanooga. As with other Choice hotels, they offer 10-15% discounts for AAA, AARP and many other organizations plus you can earn miles or Choice hotel points. We found the hotel to be a good value in comparison with the other hotels in the area, and unbeatable with the "stay twice, get 1 night free" offer that the Choice hotel group is currently running.

Finally, at the time I write this note, the gas station at the end of the road has good prices if you're getting back on the road, but if you are going to refill your rental car before you drop it off, take the Lee Highway to the airport (rather than the interstate) and you will pass a Murphy Express gas station on the left which we were told always has excellent prices with no credit card surcharge. The only cheaper gas in the area is a Sam's Club just a few blocks farther down Lee Highway (closer to the airport) but of course you need to be a member there.

Room Tip: Apparently they still offer a couple of smoking rooms. Great if you're a smoker! Otherwise, av...

This Sleep Inn was very clean. Our room was on the second floor across from the elevator. In spite of being near the elevator, it was very quiet. The room was clean, nicely appointed with a small mini refrigerator which we really appreciate. We were disappointed in the check in process. The young man that checked us in was very condescending, saying he couldn't give us the "coupon" rate. The room was $70.00 for the cheapest room. That is a lot of money for a Sleep Inn but we were tired and took the room. When I asked about the book 2 get 1 free promotion he told me that we wouldn't qualify because we were a walk in. He also said we wouldn't get any points....when I complained he said ok he would be nice and give us points. The breakfast was adequate but the waffle machine had no pam spray so the waffles were sticking to the pan. Not a bad hotel but the manager on duty needs some customer service skills

It looks like they tried to somewhat upgrade it. The hallways are dark. As soon as you walk out the elevator on the 3rd floor, you walk into a coffee table and there is a worn couch and two chairs. It's very strange. The rooms are small and have the weird pod shower. It's not worth $65/night. I will stay elsewhere next time.

It's not great, but it's completely acceptable. Last night we stayed in a dreadful Quality Inn in Clarksville, TN. This Sleep Inn is several steps above that and a welcome sight. BTW, the two places are about the same price.

There are definite signs of wear and tear on the Sleep Inn, but it's clean and comfortable. I would stay here again.

Oh, and the neighborhood is packed with restaurants and retail.

I love the new sleep inns, but this is one of the old style sleep inns, with the funky shower.
They seem to be doing some construction at the moment.
The breakfast was subpar.
I would stay at one of the other options at this exit.

Daughter and I stayed here on a cross-country trip. We wanted a quiet, nice, and affordable place for one night and chose this based on TA reviews.

The only negatives are not too much of a deterrent - there is road noise, so beware; it is close to interstate. But if you need the A/C or heat, the fan will take care of the distraction. And depending on the extravagance of breakfast buffets you are used to, this will either disappoint or satisfy. It is not fantastic, nor is it bare bones; call it a B-.

The room was clean and modern (seems to be recently refurbished), and we heard no hallway or room-to-room noise. The room - we had 2 beds - was a little small, but for the price ($79), this is a bargain. Call the room an A.

Bright clean and fairly new this hotel in highly recommended. Staff friendly and helpful.Area very safe with eating places within easy reach. Applebees just across the road which can be walked too. Quiet though plenty of guests. This may say something of those that stay there. Just a mile off the Interstate and easy access to all of Chattanooga's amenities. Easy parking.
More than adequate breakfast that is never allowed to run out. You will not be disappointed should you stay there !!

Room Tip: I don't think you will be disappointed with any of the rooms !
