“Great customer service; Hotel has problems though...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2011

Sadly, the location of this hotel really contributes to its problems. On one side there is the interstate, and the other is a busy 4 lane highway.

This makes pretty much anyplace in the hotel LOUD LOUD LOUD LOUD LOUDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD with the traffic sounds. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week... loud loud LOUD.

You will need to sleep very easily and like the dead, or you will have issues.

The internet is another problem. It is very spotty and slow. It cuts out a lot and you have to reset the wireless connection. It also locks up a LOT. This is an area they can and SHOULD fix.

The breakfast is basic 2 star fare. Gets you going, not much more.

That being said, the customer service is spot on. Very friendly. I was impressed with that.

The cleaning was pretty good as well. I just wish they could make it a bit more soundproof.

First off, my wife has always liked Hampton Inns, as they are always consistantly nice. The wife exclusively uses them for business travel and is a Hilton (Hampton) Honors member, which means we get free rooms w/ enough stays/points. This was a "free" two night stay.
The Hampton Inn Bristol is a new & nice looking hotel conveniently located & has a good free breakfast buffet. Rooms are nice - new & clean(looking). Our problem was that our room smelled like an armpit - no joke. We started to begin noticing it shortly after we checked in, which was around dark. We went to get ice, came back and noticed something - not bad but not quite right. Then we went down to the pool for awhile. Unfortunately, the pool was just too disgusting for us to use, which really sucked... The water was very very cloudy...So we went back to our room and got another hint of the smell. We shrugged it off & went to bed. I guess I got used to it that night. The next morning, we had their breakfast buffet & headed out for the day. Upon returning we noticed the smell again. At this point we could have complained, but didn't - the wife didn't seem to notice as much...That night was a long one though as the smell started to get worse - much worse.Topping it off, the beds aren't so comfortable either. By the next morning we were BOTH grossed out. Not sure if the odor was coming from the matresss or the AC unit. Fortunately, it was time to check out anyways. Normally we stay at the Holiday Inn Bristol. It too has its problems, but odor & poor sleep was never one of them. Even though this stay was technically free(takes awhile to earn this many pts!)I'd rather pay & stay at an older place and get a good nights sleep. We were both surprised & disappointed. We let the clerk know as the manager was not in - no word back from them and at this point, it doesn't look like that will ever happen... This fill-in clerk did ask if we wanted/expected to get our points back. We said that would be prefferable...lol. It was my first time in a Hampton, and likely my last, but wife has always had good experiences, but always pays more(has her company pay more that is) so that she can earn points for us to use. After this past weekend, I don't know... Maybe she'll be saving her company some $$$ in the future. I overheard the clerk saying the rooms were $129 w/ a AAA discount. I'd be pissed if I payed that for a stinky room room w/ a pool that was unuseable. Next time we'll try a different place to stay.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the ice machine & the highway and bring a breathing mask to combat the foul...

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. I sincerely apologize for your experience. Ever since we had new carpet installed in our rooms, we have received several complaints about the smell. And to be honest, this summer has been a nightmare for bugs in our pool. We used so much chlorine that the water became very cloudy. The Health Inspector stated that our pool is safe even though the water was cloudy. I hope that you will not hold this experience against us and will choose to stay with us in the future. We want the oppurtunity to amaze you with our commitment to your satisfaction.

Not up to hamton standards.should be a 69or 79 dollar hotel. I picked this hotel online because it was half way between Ohio and my home in Georgia and I was meeting family. I would have loved to stay somewhere else but I am unfamiliar with this area so it was too late! Save your money!

My family took a cross country vacation this summer and have been home a month. This hotel was one of our. favorites. It was extremely clean, our room smelled fresh, and the pool area was well maintained. The hotel staff is very helpful, and provided us with a list of activities and restaurants in the area. One of the front desk ladies even called our room to see if we needed anything. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate is provided. 24 hours a day. The continental breakfast has everything one could possibly want.

I go to Bristol for the races. The hotel situation is pretty dire, so nobody expects a whole lot. I've stayed at other hotels in town over the last few years without being overly impressed, and sort of stumbled into the Hampton Inn Bristol in August of 2010. It is absolutely the class of the field in the Bristol area, by a large margin.

The rooms and common areas are nice enough. About what you'd expect at a hotel like this. Very clean, flatscreens in at least some of the rooms. Right on the highway, so expect some road noise, but it's not really bothersome. Bed is actually a notch above what you'd expect. Service is *phenomenal*. Lisa and Vicki at the front desk are helpful, kind and thoughtful. You will never feel more welcomed or more comfortable at any other hotel. Race weekends are their busiest time of the year, and they remain calm and unflappable.

If you are coming down for the races, and can get into this hotel, jump at it. If you've stayed anywhere else in or around Bristol, you'll be stunned that there's a hotel this good in the area.

This is a nice hotel just off I-81. The room was nice, with good internet access. Nice complimentary breakfast, with to-go bags for those in a rush. I liked the local photos throughout the hotel, which added some local flavor. My only concern was that the workout equipment in the exercise room needs some work, but for a quick trip that was not a big deal. I would stay here again.
