“Barbecue King Since the 40's”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

If you want to taste real barbecue , it's tucked away on 19e , Elizabethton Hwy. That is
Between Bristol.,Tn. and Elizabethton, Tn. The smell of meat being cooked will greet
you even before you step out the car. It has been doing this since the '40's.
Since Bristol Nascar race track is about 10 min. from the restaurant during races you will find lines waiting. It is certainly worth it. They also sell their famous sauce in jars to take
Home with you.

“Simply the best!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

No ads, stuck in the middle of nowhere, the only way anyone knows about it is word of mouth. Chances are if you eat there you will have to stand in line. Enough said?

“Still my favorite restaurant.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Still pleasantly thinking of Wednesday's late lunch. Wonderful as usual. The "Wintry mix" accounted for the sparse crowd. Some things have changed over the years- the 4 lane down the road, the new bridge on the old road. I miss Mrs Proffitt standing guard and Mrs Mottern serving with a smile. The sandwiches seem to have shrunk just a tad and first the fries are cooked with vegetable oil and now they arrive at the table unsalted. (I approve). And for the time it appears that someone has tinkered with Mrs Proffitt's sauce-a little heavy on the Tobasco. (I don't approve.)
I have never had an unpleasant experience in 35 years. The ambience is perfect. The price is right.
Thank you.

“Barbecue, when your looking for the Best!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Once, second to none for great barbecue. I know the owners now are trying to keep the tradition but from the early days of Mrs. Profitt there is no comparison now. Something happened or just time and operators. Still good barbecue and sides. If you have ate at Ridgewood years past when Benny Parsons and other Nascar folks would stop in, and you waited a time to just to get in, those were the days of great barbecue. The barbecue beans had chunks of meat, served in large quanities, as were the cold slaw which was outstanding. The business has passed down thru the family since and they are doing ok, but I remember those great old days of the best barbecue anywhere. If your looking for barbecue, this still is number one in the Tri-Cities area of East Tn. Same location off US-19e on old Elizabethton Hwy. Going east on 19-e from 11-e watch for the Ridgewood, little green sign on the right. Beautiful location, same as the day they opened in the 40s.

“A national favorite for barbeque”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

Our favorite barbeque in the country. Meat is smoked on the premises and the french fries would win a universal competition.
