You see folks there is nothing I crave more than a really good box of Kung Pao Chicken. Several weeks ago I had (not perfect) but really good food from China Royal. What a pleasent surprise, sense I had all but sworn off the place. Yet, it is the only place (with even less than positive results) that seems to know what this dish should contain.
In my delirious food high the plans were laid to double order on my birthday! yeah! That's right, I planned to drown myself in the biggest, delirious, drowsiheaded and voracious gluttony ever seen by mankind. Of course, it was to be done in private! Over the next couple of weeks excitement built. The day finally came to make my trek into the big city restaurant. This place is one hour from my home.
When I pulled back the plastic wrap and opened the box my disappointment was heart breaking. This stuff looked like slop made up from the buffet left overs. The pepper steak was just as nasty.
A phone call was in order. I beleive what they don't know they can't fix! Weather they appreciate it or could care less about the customers. Oh yeah, I'm to get "a discount" next time.
However, I found out the hard way this little tip you'll leave with today.
When you call up or walk in the door be sure to ask: Is Cook #1 here today?
If they are honest and tell you "no" back out slowly and no one will get hurt.
Another thing, who do you think is in charge of that old, run down buffet? "COOK #2"!
Chinese restaurants are a dime a dozen and seems like we could get just one really good one. Just one. Mr. and Mrs. Su, if you read this, I sure miss the Golden Garden.
