“Great pool area for kids!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2010

We stayed here while we were passing through South Dakota and were very happy to find this hotel!! We got there late so the waterslides were not running but the rest of the pool was great. They have a great kiddy pool and my three year old could play without me worrying or hanging onto him constantly! The lobby and breakfast area was very nice, as well as the rooms. The staff was super nice and helpful!! I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Watertown!

We have stayed in this hotel on many occasions and have always had a very positive experience. We stayed here again on our way home from a week in New York City. Had planned to drive all the way but the weather was bad so decided to stop for the night. The staff were very welcoming, the hotel was clean as usual. The only problem we had was watching a movie, it kept stopping. We did manage to get the whole movie in after a few interruptions and the desk staff removed the charge immediately. We have never had any problems staying here, and in fact when we stayed here in the summer on our motorcycle trip, the staff went above and beyond. They had us park the bike right in front of the front desk window. Later in the evening when my husband went down to get something from the bike, I guess security did not know it was his bike and were there immediately. Would recommend the hotel to anyone.

This is a very clean and well-maintained hotel with an excellent pool for kids (waterslides, toys, etc.). The continental breakfast is good and the staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.

We had a one night stay in Watertown so we could visit the Terry Redlin Museum. This hotel was a perfect choice. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially when choosing a place for dinner. There were cookies in the early evening, but unfortunately we missed out on them. We asked for and received a free upgrade to a huge king suite. The wireless worked flawlessly even though bad storms came through the area. My only complaint would be that the breakfast area is rather small and and the area where the food is set-up needed to be kept cleaner. Other than that, this is a great place to stay. It is right off the interstate, has ample parking, a waterpark, and a gas station and restaurant right next door, plus it's just down the road from the museum. If we ever visit Watertown again, we will definitely stay here!

I tend to think hotel stays are as easy as 1,2, 3! Check in - check out - end of story. Not in this case. We reserved a suite room - which seemed clean and "newish" - about the only good thing about the visit. Problems with the hotel: staff would prefer to hang out in a back room rather than come to the front desk, party central (their banquet room parties don't help the matter), loud noises & banging from adjacent rooms, strangers knocking on our door twice that evening, semi-trucks at adjacent businesses noisily idling all night long, overcrowded pool area, GREEN swimming pool, limited selections at breakfast, and BEST of all...to top it off...they charged my credit card for a missing pillow. We did not take a used, snored on, drooled on HI Express pillow. Since I drive by the hotel often, I stopped by to discuss the charge with the manager. She was rude if not hostile - probably because I pulled her from the back room- far from professional in all aspects of her demeanor. I contacted corporate who referred back to management - they still would not refund my $20. The manager said I signed an agreement upon check in that I am responsible for any missing items. So if you still want to stay at this establishment, I recommend you having them survey your room upon checkout. You are guilty of anything they supposedly find missing or of any room number type-o when documenting missing items. VERY poor service! Will not return to this HI Express. There are many other hotel options off interstate in Watertown, SD.

The staff at the front desk were very helpful, the room was clean (Bed & Bath), although it was smaller than what I am used to at Holiday Inn Express properties. Pool & hot tub area were well maintained & clean.

This turned out to be a good place to stop on our way to our final destination. Hotel was clean, had a great waterslide in the pool area and other water activities for smaller kids. My older kids were only interested in the slide, but think they each went down it 100 times. They even coaxed me up there, was fun. The slide is only open certain times of the day, so might want to check on that before you make a decision. Room was nice with refrigerator and microwave. Overall thought it was a good value, and would return. Only hiccup was the free breakfast....the food distributor came while we were there and instead of worrying about replacing items that they were out of on the food line, they spent the entire time putting away boxes of food in the back. Other than that we enjoyed our stay. There is a Wal-Mart and several other stores close by in case you need to restock coolers for drinks and lunches.
