“Nice, relaxing and close to Badlands National Park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

Check-in was smooth because of friendly staff. We checked in early & were glad we did. The place was full the next morning. The room was nice -downstairs (there's no elevator up to the second floor). Comfortable and the A/C was good. We had a table and two chairs, big screen TV and a comfortable bed. What more can you ask for an overnight? Breakfast the next morning was good. The area was clean and well maintained. Check-out just as smooth as check-in.

Room Tip: Get a downstairs room unless you don't mind carrying luggage up to the second floor.

Pros: Only 8 miles away from the Bandlands National Park entrance. Clean room. Breakfast. Bed is comfortable, nice tv.
Cons: Noise. Parking. The hotel (motel) is dated, it requires a little TLC. Air conditioner. Price, it should be at least 20 less than what we paid.

This hotel is on par with what you'd expect from a Best Western. Clean room, helpful staff, and likely the best hotel breakfast in town. It's also walking distance from other attractions and restaurants. No disappointments here.

We just had the chance to spend several days in the Badlands and chose a motel we've stayed at before, the Best Western Plains Motel. We had a second floor room - outdoor corridors and no elevator should be noted. It was no problem for us. Fridge, microwave & hair dryer provided. Free hot breakfast each morning has more then standard motel fare. Scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravey, and the usual cold cereals, bagles, donuts, etc. I didn't use the pools this time but have before and found them to be very clean. 1 indoor and 1 outdoor plus a hot tub. After being there for 4 nights, the staff all seemed to remember us and always said hello. Very friendly. We stay here every time we're in the area. Plus, it's only 50 miles to Rapid City, so we made a day trip of the Black Hills. Wonderful place to stay.

Room Tip: No elevator so if you have mobility issues, be sure to get a ground floor room. Also, we had a secon...

We enjoyed our stay as the room was very nice & clean (a microwave & refrigerator would have made it excellent), the hot breakfast was good, and the pet facilities were great (a fence around the grassy area & waste collection bags would have been excellent). However, check to make sure the pet policy posted on their website ($15 for up to 2 pets under 80 lbs) is followed. One of the better BW locations that we've stayed in. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

Room Tip: The King room came with a very comfortable recliner. Just one so there might be a fight for it!

Stopped here for the night while on a four day cross country trip. Price was around 80$. Rooms were clean. Staff went above and beyond to help when a friend locked their keys in the car. Sent maintance over to help. Breakfast in the morning was fair - good. Had Sausage biscuts and gravy, pastries, hard boiled eggs, oatmeals, and cold products.

We arrived late in the evening and the front desk was very welcoming. The room was clean, nice and spacious but the bathroom was compact. Just passing through and a nice place to get some sleep on our way to Rapid City.
