“Wounded Knee Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

Excellent displays. Only cost $5.00 for adults. Depicts the Native American version of the massacre. A somewhat sad epic in American history. Museum is located in Wall S.D. Takes about 90 minutes to view video and tour the gallery.

“Excellent Story About Wounded Knee”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

Small museum, but it does an excellent job of telling the very sobering story of Wounded Knee.

Left me sorry about that period of our country's history.

Story boarded style, didn't realize at first that the story boards were numbered. Especially since some of the numbering seemed out of order. With the museum mostly empty it took us well over an hour to walk through and absorb all of the information.

Will admit having been upset with the brutal nature of what transpired at Wounded Knee. However, I would gladly go back again, history isn't always about the good things. We need to remember the bad things or we risk repeating them!

Would not consider this museum for younger children. The displays are much less than the story board reading.

Gift shop was nice and had many appropriate items for sell.

“Text-heavy, but worth a visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012

A deep look at a very sad chapter in American history. Museum is primarily text-based, so not a good option for kids, but I did learn a lot about Wounded Knee from touring the museum. Text panels could be slightly better organized, though, to help follow the chronology better. Being a very sad episode, it makes for a sobering visit - but if you really want to dig into the area's history, or get an in-depth look at the Wounded Knee massacre, definitely pay a visit.

“Sad time in Western American History”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

Very sobering. Makes one aware of how badly the American Indian was treated, even to death. Well presented and factual.

“Sobering”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012

This is a very small museum that does a good job of presenting the Wounded Knee story. It is a good preface to visiting the Woulded Knee Site. Very solemn and quiet. There are no actual artifacts, just pictures and text, so don't expect the Smithsonian. It is easy to see in a short time and the admission is very reasonable. There are lots of coupons available for $1 off, also.
