We stayed here after reading all the glowing reviews of the Sunshine Inn here on Trip Advisor. It's an older motel, a great rate ($61 plus tax), and the owner is a gracious gentleman, but the rooms are small and not many amenities are provided in the room. Ours was on the second floor over the office - no elevator - so a trip up outside stairs was needed to get there. On the plus side, the rates are low, and it's a great location if you want to visit Badlands National Park and Wall Drug is right up the street. Parking is free, although the lot is a bit small. The room comes with a TV, phone, soap, and towels. If you want shampoo, an alarm clock, or a hair dryer, you have to go to the office during office hours (7am - 11pm) to request them. Wi-fi worked just fine for us, but we were right over the office. There's no ice machine - you have to take your ice bucket to the office to be filled, and if you want to use the microwave, that's in the office too. The remote for the TV didn't work, but I didn't want to have to make yet another trip down to the office. A light breakfast is served in the office beginning at 7 am, but we had already left by then.
I suppose I'm a bit spoiled by the hotel chains and the larger rooms and more generous amenities they provide. The Sunshine Inn is economical, clean, and the owner is very nice, so if you prefer the independently run mom-and-pop type motels, give this one a try.
