Both the OH and myself enjoyed this trip, as we like nature 'things' We booked with attraction passes uk, and the guide was fantastic. We were the only English speaking couple on the boat, and he really took the time to communicate with us.
The sea was too rough for us to do the snorkeling on the way out to the island, but once we got to Isla Contoy, the snorkeling was fab, and we even saw a turtle siting on the bottom!
Lunch was lovely (and the hermit crabs and iguanas had a feast on the leftovers). My only disappointment was that we didn't have all that long to laze on the beach after seeing all the sights (lagoon, with the nesting site of the frigates, and the observation points). Oh, and the friendly stingray didn't make an appearance either, but we did see one whilst snorkeling.
On the way back we stopped at Isla Mujeres (true Mexico), for some shopping (although we sat in a bar, drinking cocktails from a freshly chopped coconut, and watching the world go by!)
On the way back the crew put on a show, dressed in various superhero costumes, and the tequila was flowing. OH said it was the best trip we had in Mexico!
Tip: take some extra money with you, we bought the photo of us with the 'mayan warrior' boarding the boat, and didn't have much left to tip the crew, and then we realised we had nothing left to tip our guide, who DID deserve it......sorry Jonah!
