This is a pet-friendly motel with nice parks nearby to walk your pet. The room was clean, the staff were pleasant. There's a large outdoor deck (looks like it used to be a pool) to sit outside. The motel is within easy walking distance of several restaurants and stores.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on TripAdvisor, Hola4876. We are delighted your stay was pleasant and met your expectations. We will continue to work hard to ensure your future stays with us are as nice (or better) as the one you wrote about in your review.

As you have noted in your review, we offer pet-friendly rooms. However not all of our rooms are pet-friendly, so it is always better to let us know if you have a pet in advance of your arrival. Unlike many other hotels, we do not automatically assign pet owners to smoking rooms (we have yet to find a pet that smokes); at the same time, we also understand that some guests have pet allergies. We therefore have a separation of pet-friendly and non-pet rooms. In summer, when pet-friendly rooms are harder to find in the area, it is best to book in advance and let us know you have a pet (or pets).

There is a shady walking trail along Spearfish Creek behind our hotel that is perfect for dog lovers. Also, there is a large field and the part of town we are in is a residential walking-friendly area.

Once again, Hola4876, we hope the next time you are in Spearfish you and your pet will choose to stay with us again. We look forward to your return and if you book directly with our property, please ask for me - I will make sure you get the nicest room available.

Thank you and happy travels,

Booked this on a business trip and found the hotel to be small, clean, close to restaurants, and especially close to the Black Hills State University. There is a free breakfast at 7:00 am every morning, but it consists of coffee, juice, waffles and cold cereal. The check-in and out was easy and uneventful. Recommended for a nice little out of the way hotel.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on TripAdvisor, The_fotobug. We are delighted your stay was a pleasant one. We will continue to work hard to ensure your future stays with us are as nice as the one you wrote about in your review.

As you have noted in your review, we offer a quiet stay that is convenient to many of Spearfish's many activities. We are located in town and are one of the closest hotels to Black Hills State University, City Park, the Fish Hatchery and Spearfish High School. Each of these are just a few short blocks away. We are also within a convenient distance of many restaurants and just down the street from a majority of the churches in Spearfish. The start of the Spearfish Canyon is also close to our hotel.

The_fotobug, we hope the next time you are in Spearfish you will stay with us again. We look forward to your return and if you book directly with our property, please ask for me - I will make sure you get the nicest room available.

Got attitude when we checked in. First they said since my daughter booked it she had to be with me. Well she was 5 hours away. So I said you already charged me for the room before I even checked in. So they let us stay. Well room was in middle of being painted. No trim on walls. Shower dirty hair. Heat vents all rusty. Nasty stuff on one of the wall paintings. Oh at the top of stairs was all kinds of stains at top of stairs. have no swimming pool. We stayed just one night. went next door to the inn and got a room. was a lot nicer. trying to get my money back for the other 2 nights that we didn't stay. Oh the breakfast horrible. doughnuts stall really bad.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review here on TripAdvisor, Terry R. We are sorry to hear your stay was not up to your standards due to the maintenance issue, which I will explain in more detail shortly..

Your reservation was booked using the employee rate and your daughter was the Wyndham employee under whose name the reservation was booked . The front desk did inquire if your daughter (the employee) was with you as was required for you to qualify for this special rate. Our front desk treated you fairly by asking this question and we are sorry if you took this question as rude. Upon your check-in, it was clear there was some tension between the people in your party that occurred prior to the arrival at our property. Sensing this tension, we did our best to get you to your room quickly.

Unfortunately, we chose a room for you that we should not have. The room was blocked for maintenance and scheduled to be repainted and have the carpet replaced at the time. This explains your photos and why the room was not in pristine shape (baseboard removed, some paint residue on the carpet, etc.). Although I was not there during your check-in, I did discuss this situation with our front desk staff. I take personal responsibility for this mistake and I ensured that all of your money for your stay was fully refunded.

We did not hear from you during your stay and had no knowledge of your dissatisfaction or to move you to a better room. Surprisingly, our front desk asked if the room was okay soon after your check-in, but received no information to the contrary. We also were not told that you decided to depart early until after your departure. Again, Terry R, please accept my apologies for this mix-up.

We will be working with a different supplier for our breakfast goods and to ensure we provide our guests with the freshest items.

We hope next time you are in Spearfish, we can earn your business again. Many of our guests are happy with their stay with us. If you have additional information to share about this stay or wish to discuss this with me further, you can email me at gm @ tlspearfish.com.

Thank you and happy travels,

We picked this place because it's walking distance to restaurants in town. It's not fancy but it's very clean and since we booked months in advance, the rate was great. You can stay out near the interstate but this place is in a nice little neighborhood. We skipped the continental breakfast because I like to have eggs for breakfast. The staff was friendly upon check in and check out.

AnnieVio, thank you for taking the time to write a review on TripAdvisor.

We are delighted your stay met your expectations and we will work hard to ensure future stays are as nice as the one you wrote about in your review.

As you have noted in your review, we offer a quiet stay with good beds in a clean room at a reasonable price. We are not far (less than a mile)from the interstate, but located in town within a convenient distance of many restaurants and a majority of the churches in Spearfish. Although we don't (yet) offer eggs for breakfast, we do offer hot waffles in addition to a standard continental breakfast that many of our guests enjoy.

We are glad you found our front desk staff friendly and accommodating - I have passed your words along to them. AnnieVio, we look forward to your return and if you book directly with our property, please ask for me - I will make sure you get the nicest room available.

This was the second year in a row staying here.. We stayed 4 nights. Our room was clean, the carpet was clean, bathroom clean. Some of the towels were newer and thicker and whiter, some were older and not as white, but clean. The grounds were neat and clean. Frontdesk gal was friendly at checkin. We did not encounter any problems, so we did not have to contact the frontdesk at all after checkin.
Will stay again.

We stayed at this property on August 13,2012 this was the day after Sturgis we used our Rewards points 6000 we don't know what the room price was not $300.00 a night. We stay at a different motel everynight this was a very nice motel close to Deadwood. If you stayed in a motel everynight you would find that this is a very quite and friendly place. We are truck drivers and delivered a truck to Williston, ND. I don't know why anyone would not think this is not a nice motel. The beds are great and it's hard to find a place with good beds. The only things I found wrong was I wanted to get in the hot tub and get some ice but someone had locked the door and no one could get in the room. We tried to book a room the next night by calling them but no one answered the phone mind you it was late because we could not find a room anywhere we had to drive all night and finally got a room at a casino on I-29 so people don't be so quickly to judge just be happy you found a nice place to stay. Next time we are in the area we will stay at this nice place and I will call early.

Room Tip: Call earley.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review here on TripAdvisor, Jnitablair. All of us at the Travelodge are delighted your stay was a great one and we will work hard to make future stays as nice as the one you wrote about in your review.

We agree that our hotel is both quiet and friendly, and in a nice part of town near parks and the Spearfish Creek. Our beds are new pillow top beds that far exceed the Travelodge brand standard.

The ice machine is located in the laundry hot tub area. We keep the door closed to the area since our laundry prices are lower than the neighborhood laundromat and we had a number of local people coming to use our machines. We prefer to limit their use to our guests so the room can be opened with the valid keycard from one of our rooms. We apologize for not explaining this to you upon your check-in.

We do encourage you to book early, particularly for our busiest times. We look forward to your return and if you book directly with our property, please ask for me - I will make sure you get the nicest room available.

Thank you and happy travels,

We stayed here for 4 days during Sturgis bike week. First off they will rip you off at every chance they can. The room was almost $300 a night during bike week for a room that would be $59 any other time. The staff at the front desk was not very friendly and certainly not customer helpful. We asked for an extra bar of soap and almost had to beg for it. The crabby lady asked if there was non left in the room by the cleaning people. Hey, for $300 a night extra soap should not be an issue.

The room was small and in a dark corner. It was not the cleanest looking and the bedspread had stains on it. The carpet was also soiled and not very clean. The shower did not drain and you had to stand in the dirty scummy water while showering. Generally this place really needs some attention. The only good thing that I can say is the bed was new and very comfortable. Don't be fooled by the pictures. There is NO pool at this hotel. The pool was covered by a wood deck which did not have any tables or chairs to sit on. The Wi-Fi was basically non functional. It was so slow and the signal strength so week that it was useless. The contential breakfast was OK, but certainly nothing to brag about.

I would not stay here again and would not recommend this to others. I'm sure you can do much better at other hotels in town. I would not stay at this hotel even at non bike week prices!

Room Tip: Get a room in the annex with the laundry machines. This is the newer building and the rooms were lar...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review here on TripAdvisor, Michael M. We are sorry to hear your stay was not up to your standards in early August.

We take room maintenance seriously. We investigated your room (room 108) upon reading your review, and unfortunately we could not validate many of the things you had claimed. The free Wi-Fi internet speed was fine, the carpet did not have any stains, and the shower drain drained as it should. We could not verify the bedspread as too much time had passed and we change them frequently, but the bedspread was clean when we visited the room. Despite your interaction with our front desk staff, we did not hear any dissatisfaction about your room during your stay, and therefore we had no chance to make things better while you were there. Room 108, a single non-smoking queen, is tucked away from the main parking lot, and many of our guests like the additional privacy that it offers.

You had booked for 3 nights using an online travel agency. Soon after your arrival, you added a 4th night directly with us. We gave you a discount for the additional night, so the room rates you described are not entirely accurate. However, the Sturgis Rally is a busy week for all hotels within 100 miles of Sturgis. We would suggest you investigate Wyndham Rewards and using the points that it provides for a free stay. You can get a free night for as few as 6000 points, which many of our guests find is a great bargain.

We are not sure which website you visited that indicated that we had a pool, but we have made no claim to have one since 2009. However, in addition to a new laundry room, we do have a 8-person hot tub and the large patio that you described. Our guests enjoy both of these, particularly in the summertime.

Once again, Michael M, we hope next time you are in Spearfish, we can earn your business again. Many of our guests are happy with their stay with us. Using Wyndham Rewards points and booking directly with us and booking early for the Sturgis rally (in early August) can help avoid the issues you had encountered.

If you have additional information to share about this stay or wish to discuss this with me further, you can email me at gm @ tlspearfish.com.

Thank you and happy travels,
