“Great Place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2009

I used Priceline and got 2 rooms for the 5 of us. I was not disappointed at all. The service was great - the rooms nice. This was a great place to stay and easy to find.

We had a fantastic stay at the Sheraton. Very clean, convenient and comfortable. Rooms could use a bit of an upgrade and wifi should be free, but otherwise very nice.

We stayed here for one night en route to Mount Rushmore. We got a large room that felt new and clean. The bed was very comfortable just as Sheraton beds always are. The parking at this Sheraton is free which is out of the norm for Sheratons but I suppose this one isn’t in a busy downtown core. You can get free internet in their business centre otherwise you’ll have to pay for internet in your room. They allow pets in this hotel but the hotel staff said that pets are usually kept into the lower rooms. If you have allergies request a higher room. I had a good stay and would stay here again.

There is nothing worse than arriving late at night after a long day to a hotel room that has issues: light broken next to bed, room needed vacuming, carpeting stained with lipstick......The morning was no better: showerhead needed repair as did the sink drain.

And did I mention the sheets--they felt like polyester, not cotton. Very odd.

However, if you have a conference at the attached convention center, this property is hard to beat (unless you like Ramadas like the one across the street).

Also, you can jog or walk to the nearby Veterans Park..

The free hotel shuttle is great (and it is close to the airport).

But this was my third stay there and each tkme my room had problems.

Staff was helpful and responsive although no one knew how to replace the lightbulb with the correct size.

This is a John Q. Hammond Hotel (they also own the Holiday Inn downtown).
That being said, the downtown property is closer to shops and restaurants. Had a better stay there. A better choice unless you are at a conference at the convention center.

Note to hotels:

Don't put in fluorescent lights in lamps and then let them burn out.

Train staff how to repair them.

Vacum around the bedstand. Finding hair bands, paper clips, garbage , and other left overs is unpleasant.

Air conditioner squealed had to be fixed. Exhaust fan in bathroom didn't work. Bar prices very expensive. No continental breakfast due to restraunt on premises. Three dollars an hour for wireless internet. We stayed 2 nights due to it being close to our destination in the city. We got a discounted rate. If we had paid regular price for the room we would have found a new motel for the second night. There are better hotels in SF with lots better amenities for the price.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2009

i just got back from a business trip here.

the GOOD: room was beautiful, it had a huge flat screen tv, and the bed was extremely comfortable and clean.

the BAD: being an SPG gold member i expected a room upgrade but the front desk clerk did not upgrade me. No big deal i guess since the room was so nice. Unfortunately when i woke up in the morning to take a shower i was greeted by the absence of hot water. I was forced to take a cold shower (very COLD!). I went downstairs and told the front desk that i had no hot water, and the response i got was rude. the older front desk clerk looked at me as if i was lying then said "did you let the water run for awhile before you used it?". I said yes, then he proceeded to roll his eyes at me as if i was crazy. A younger clerk apologized and said that he would look into it.

The next day i went to check out and the same older clerk was there. he asked if i had enjoyed my stay and i mentioned that once again i had no hot water in my room. Once again he looked at me like i was a fool, proceeded to shake his head at me and said "sorry guy".

I am not normally very picky but a cold shower in South Dakota in February is a horrible way to start your day. If only he were a little more kind i would probably have enjoyed the stay more.

Sheraton please read this, teach your front desk some manners!!
