I am semi-retired and former senior management for America's most affluent travel, lifestyle and aviation publication. My on-line research for area lodging indicated this is the only upscale hotel located in the Sioux Falls area.
A last minute cancellation by another patron allowed us a Saturday night stay in this fully booked hotel, which is located in southwest Sioux Falls near I-29. We received handicap accessible room number 335, with a king bed, sleeper sofa and large bathroom. Our room was spacious (double room width size), comfortable, clean, quite and included a larger sized flat screen HDTV, refrigerator, microwave, wet bar (sink) and table. The window curtains fully blocked out light. The HVAC system is fully enclosed and operated by wall thermostat, making the air-flow ventilation indirect and allowing a comfortable rest.
The hotel indoor common area is nicely appointed and breakfast is served from this area. The outdoor common area has multiple seating locations, three firepits for making smores (chocolate, marshmellows, graham crackers) and a few pergolas. Behind the hotel outdoor area is the Big Sioux River. There was some construction work being performed on river infrastructure repairs, but this work is far enough away that it doesn't really impact guests. The indoor pool is kid friendly with slides and a mushroom fountain, however the three foot water depth and pool size limits adult swimming activites.
The hotel is connected by breezeway to the Italian restaurant next door, which also provides room service to partons. Limited time didn't allow us to try their fare. The Clubhouse is surrounded by an abundant of wining, dining and shopping options all within easy walking distance. We had dinner a short walk away at the Granite City Restaurant and Brewery. I am familiar with Granite City in the Mpls/St. Paul area and wasn't disappointed dining at this FSD location either. We personally like enjoy their bacon & tomato appetizer pizza.
I had a couple of discussions with Dave, one of the hotel managers, as well as some of the other staff. The employees are approachable and friendly. My family and I agree the Clubhouse is a step or two above in quality as compared to other area hotels, perhaps with some amenities more like a very nice resort property. We sincerely believe you will enjoy this property.
