“GREAT!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2010

The Fiance and I were traveling to Rapid City, SD to visit her sister. This was half way between were we were coming from at the time. So instead of arriving at 4am we decided to stay at a hotel.

I typed in hotels on my blackberry and this place had good reviews. Check in could of been a bit better but I can't really complain. I didn't have a reservation and I negotiated a better rate than what they were trying to sell them for.

The room was very clean. The place was very clean and pleasant smelling. The best part is that they put your receipt under you door at night so you don't have to check out. If I ever go up to that area of the country again I will stay there again.

Our room was clean and comfortable, with modern amenities, we had no problem with the room. The front desk clerks though were inattentive, one was actually polishing her nails as she spoke to hotel guests checking in as I waited in the lobby. Parking is very tight, we have a large truck and were pretty much wedged into a spot, there just isn't much parking there. The "restaurant" on site was billed as family, but is more like a bad sports bar. Customers in the bar were loud, one was quite obscene and was said to be a regular customer. We are not prudes my husband and I have both worked as bartenders, but we expected a quiet dinner as did several "senior" couples that were looking quite disgusted by what was being said by the "regular". The problem was the bartenders and waitresses did nothing to stop this problem. The saving grace of the restaurant was the burger was good, but we couldn't get out of there fast enough.
Country Inn & Suites did however rectify the restaurant experience by sending us a gift certificate for a future stay at any of their hotels or restaurants.

Great stay. Room had nice river view. Clean. Free use of Y. Helpful staff. Newer property. 4 cup coffee maker. Laundry machines available. Clean as a whistle. Newer than the nearby Holiday Inn. Cheaper and better serivce than the Sheraton. A great choice and close to the cute downtown.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2010

Stayed four nights in early Feb. 2010. Internet special rate made it competitive with motels with many fewer amenitites. We had made a reservation and check-in was not a problem at all. For future travelers, if Lindsey is at the desk when you check-in, you are in good hands. We just happened to mention that the following morning we had to be out of the building before the breakfast was served and she volunteered that we could pre-order take-away breakfasts to be ready when we left.

The take away breakfasts were spartan but were what we needed. The normal breakfast was served until 9:30 a.m. Except for the boiled eggs and peanut butter, it was a little short on protein and long on carbohydrates. Don't expect bacon or sausage but rather bagels, cereal and waffles.

The location is on the edge of downtown Sioux Falls. For those who may have checked the restaurant reviews, it is only a block from the Monks House of Ale Repute. In February, the snow piles obscured the driveway and made the entrance hard to see. Parking lot is small but they have arranged overflow parking in the lot to the east.

Staff was extremely helpful and friendly, even chatty. You could enter into as much conversation as you may want to, even with the housekeepers.

The only minor change I would have made would have been the pillow. They were smallish, square feather pillows. I prefer larger, firmer pillows but that's a highly personal pique.

We did eat at the Falls Landing in the facility. It was basically a bar that served 1/2 pound hamburgers and other typical short order type food, but that's another review. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would gladly consider staying here again.

I usually stay at country inn and suites and was pleasantly happy with this hotel in sioux falls. The pro's are: the suite has a separate bedroom which was great since I was traveling with a family member and privacy was needed. Nearby restaurants make it a cinch to grab some great food at a great price. (I usually stay away from the hotel restaurants because the food and drinks are typically higher). Falls park is a simple stroll down the bike path, approximately 1-2 blocks. We went at nighttime and it is lit up beautifully.
The con's are: Parking lot is very small, you may have to park in an adjacent parking lot that is not related to the hotel itself. The pool is also small and pretty bland looking in general.
Overall I would recommend it for travelers just for convenience and the park area
