“Great Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed here over the weekend and had a wonderful experience. The hotel was clean and the staff was extremely friendly and easy to work with. We drove 10 hours and got to the hotel very early in the morning. All we wanted was a place to lay our heads down for a second. The hotel staff opened our room early so we could rest, and we were only charged for one night. We could tell the new staff is doing the right things to make their customer's stay more enjoyable that what other reviews stated in the past.

The hotel is a mixed bag of good and bad. When first entering I almost canceled my reservation. It did not make a good first impression, looks run down and there was an odor. I decided to give it a try when the front desk person was friendly. It appears they may be new owners trying to get the hotel upgraded, and do things correctly. They have the cleanliness part down, once in the room. They need to work on the long dark hallways and the lobby. If you need good internet service this isn’t the hotel for you. The rooms are clean and very large, although very dated. The recliner in my room was not adjustable and needed to be placed against a wall to prevent over reclining. There was in-room coffee (single serve type) and a refrigerator. Be aware there is no access to rooms without having to walk up or down a half flight of stairs. Not ADA accessible. If you are on the 1st floor you are half underground with high windows. The street in front of the hotel is under construction so access is not easy. IMO this is a hotel to watch for improvement but I would not stay again until it has improved.

This hotel was awful. I had read reviews in advance of making my reservation which indicated it would be clean and comfortable. Not true! Immediately upon entering the lobby, there was an obvious, unusual, and offensive odor. No one was at the desk to check me in. I used a phone on the desk to call for an employee, and after the phone rang and rang and rang, and after many minutes passed, finally a man and woman appeared. The hallway to the guest room had the same odd odor, and the hotel appeared dingy, dark, in need of a thorough cleaning and updating. Once in the room, the odor lessened, but the room was not particularly clean. The corners, baseboards, walls and ceiling were visibly dirty. The linens may have been "clean" but were stained and had burn marks. The vending machines were all completely empty. We were in room 105. It sounded as though someone lived in the area above this room. The noises from the room(s) above were bothersome and disruptive to my group. We could smell odors from what seemed to be a personal kitchen above us. The next morning, breakfast was not available at the advertised time of 6am. When it finally became ready, all that was available were waffles, bread for toast and cereal. A person in my group had to make the coffee. The breakfast room was not clean, at 6am, so likely it had been left like that from the day before. While this might have been a good location, I would never stay here again. This was a strangely poor experience for a Super 8. I had stayed in many others before, and have never been so disappointed or upset by my experience.

Any positive review for this place was falsely written by the owner. I do not write reviews and went to the effort this time to hopefully prevent anyone else having the horribly disgusting experience my family did. If not for having arrived at 2:00 a.m. we would've demanded our money back and moved on. The desk clerk was filthy and rude, but a treat compared to the room which smelled awful, The bathroom clearly had not been cleaned between several guest. The tub was extremely dirty and stained with hair all over. The wash clothes were stained with I don't want to think about what. We put a towel in the tub floor just to shower. We slept about 4 hours and tried to leave quickly without contaminating our gear. Forget about breakfast. We weren't about to eat food prepared by anyone this filthy. We just wanted to put this place in our rear view a forget it. We could not believe this was part of a national franchise. No more Super 8s for us.

Room Tip: There cannot be a good room in the place

Room was dirty. We always put out the 'Do not disturb' sign. (As a stay-over, we don't mind using same towels, making our own beds). Hotel maid knocked and tried to come into the room anyways. She asked if we needed service. Told her no and thought that was the end of it. Within the next couple hours (Do not disturb sign still on the door), the maid knocked on the door again. I answered and pointed to the sign and closed the door. Maid came to the door a third time a few minutes later, after which an altercation ensued. Maid insulted and cursed at us, got the manager involved. Got a refund for the coming night but had to leave the hotel to stay at another. Maid had worked there 3-4 years...she should have known better...Plus side, manager/other staff of the hotel were nice and accommodating.
