As a local SF resident, we had been meaning to try this place for a while. Tonight was the night to do so. Judging from other reviews, I was expecting a great meal. I would've settled for "good". Unfortunately. it just didn't happen. We began with the bread plate appetizer, which was spectacular with olives, hummus, truffle butter, etc... For the entrees, I ordered the lobster aignolotto and my husband ordered the risotto. As much as we'd love to give this place a thumbs up, we just can't. The pasta was cooked very much under the "al dente" stage, giving it a rubbery and rather tasteless texture. I let our server Cody know, and he informed us that "the owner, who is also a chef, is in the kitchen." Ummm, it seemed like he knew waaay better than me as to what al dente meant. (?) Cody did offer a free glass of wine in exchange for the disappointment of a $26 entree. Sigh. I did dig into my husband's plate of risotto, but found that oddly lacking in any type of wow factor. It was also not very tasty for the $23 price tag. I know food. I know good food, and this just wasn't it. As much as I'd love to give this place an enthusiastic 2 thumbs up, I can't do so in good conscience.
