I just got back from a 2-night stay here for a soccer tourney. We booked our room in the beginning of March and we picked this hotel for several reasons that included free breakfast, swimming pool for our players, fitness center for parents, nice lobby to meet in, a group price for our team and the bigger rooms. Well... 4 days before we were to leave we received an email entitled..."Springhill Suites Renovation ALERT" which proceeded to say that the lobby/front desk area is under construction, the Pool was CLOSED, the fitness center CLOSED, the free breakfast would be served in a meeting room. Here is my problem with all of this. This hotel DEFINITELY KNEW about this major renovation when we made our reservations but did not say anything to us because they knew we would not book with them and we wouldn't have knowing this information! Hotels do not make major renovations without months of prior planning. I think this is totally false advertising and I would not stay here! I will add that they made arrangements for guests to use the pool at the Marriott Courtyard Hotel but we had to walk to it. Also, we could have complimentary passes to a fitness center but we had to schedule transportation through the front desk and who is going to mess with all that time! Finally, about that "special group rate" we thought we were getting...well, just to check, I went on as just your average person booking a room and guess what, the rate was the same online as our "special rate!" So needless to say, I was not very pleased with the Springhill Suites experience. When we complained about the fact they did not tell us about the renovations when we made our reservations & that the rate charged was no different for our group, they gave us a very small discount on our rooms! I was quite surprised that they didn't put their guests first in solving these issues. On a positive note, the rooms were big and the bathrooms were very big. Final advice, do not stay here especially while this renovation is going on.
