“UNEXPECTED "GEM"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

We were VERY "taken" with this upscale, unexpected "gem" ! The rooms were so fun & "trendy" & unique....and the fact that the hotel is "green" & privately owned, made it more impressive! The owners turned a sows ear into a silk purse! It was such an
example of how MORE things COULD be in America if people took a risk to open their own businesses, and I would highly suggest you support it, even if for no other reason!! (vs. chain mentality)
The restaurant & food were excellent, and the waitstaff were totally professional, clean, courteous and obviously take great PRIDE in their hotel. It made our trip totally memorable and well worth the extra "investment".

Green Features: very impressive...makes you WANT to do live more environmentally vs. "lazilly"

Wow! So glad to read your thoughtful comments. It was indeed the chain mentality that forced us to leave them. We wanted to be Eco Friendly as an extension of hospitality. Radisson(our former flag) was so focused on control, they lost sight of what creative hoteliers can do and maybe tune in to what the customer wants today. For example, Chains prefer curtains with black outs that collect or hide dust. We are using new technology blinds made from recycled materials (efficient, stylish and do not collect dust) , new style of carpets that are environmentally friendly. The list goes on and on... My personal gratitude for expressing those words to the world at large.
Thank you,
Karim Merali

We happened to be on a Tauck Tour and this hotel was one of our stops. What a neat, very midern hotel!! The rooms were decorated very modern and was very comfortable. The bathroom door was a dark blue glass and served very nicely as a night light when we left the bathroom light on and closed the door. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Loved the room. It had all the amenities expected. Staff was friendly.

If you are a shopper don't miss the Karma boutique. I enjoyed walking around town and viewing the life sized statues of the presidents.

All rooms recently updated or totally remodeled. In the heart of down town and by all of the restaurants, bars, and stores. Very popular, many groups and guests. Our first room on the 3rd floor was nothing special, I wanted a mural room which I thought was throughout the hotel (as noted on the Web site which has been off-line recently). The second night we moved to 723. OUTSTANDING. I loved it, so cool; I want to redecorate my house in the theme:-) The hotel is embellished with art such as murals and special creative floor tiles and extremely eco-friendly. The restaurant had well prepared food with good recipes for dinner, the expected for breakfast. The gift shop coffee to go, Rapid City Coffee Company, had the BEST coffee (only second to Dunkin Donuts which will always be my first love). I kept the air conditioning blazing and never had a problem with train noise/street noise as others have commented. I would recommend Adoba Eco.

Room Tip: Ask for a city view room on the 7th or 8th floor and ask what type of mural is in the room.

Green Features: Excellent, however you do have to put in some effort as well (i.e. bring your plastic bottles to the sorter near the elevator).

The customer service was awesome. Very nice and helpful. The location was perfect, in the downtown area and a strait shot to the attractions. The front desk was very knowledgable on the area and attractions. The breakfast was good and the service very prompt and professional. I was pleased and will make this a spot to visit again in the future.

Room Tip: not durring a holiday as it can be loud.

Green Features: I hope this is a new trend for hotels. It is true that we need hotels like this in every city a viable option for all.

We were here for two nights. The hotel was great. We were on the sixth floor, and our rooms (we had two rooms) were great.Things that most hotels nickel and dime you to death for, are complementary. Water, little bags of popcorn or taffy, coffee, breakfast are free. Retro style wallpaper, comfy beds, great amenities. The only reason I didn't give this hotel a five star was because when I went to do laundry, and of course, it was after I was done, I noticed the washer was absolutely filthy. Mildew and hairy stuff all in the rubber gasket. Nasty.
The other reason is because of the restaurant. Way over priced. We walked around downtown Rapid City and had wonderful meals, reasonably priced. That is such a neat town.
On the whole, I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Do laundry elsewhere.

Green Features: I liked the whole concept. Recycle receptacles in front of the hotel so you can dump your road trash is a great idea.

So glad you liked the room. We hate to nickel and dime you as well. We are so proud of our accomplishments to date. The restaurant is a little more expensive than a casual dining place, because you pay for table cloths, a unique fashion of service, and organic food wherever and whenever possible. Those extra's add up, but are well worth it for those who value that particular experience. We sometimes wish we could do it all, but the reality is you have to find your niche and enjoy it. Enigma is a fine dining experience and is ideal for special occasions and business occasions. Thank you for the nice comments and I am so glad you recommended us.

BTW, our engineer is all over the washing machine.

I recently stayed at this hotel for three nights for a business trip and had a corner room on the 6th floor. It was recently remodeled and the bed had a variety of pillow types. Classy atmosphere in the lobby and a good breakfast buffet each morning. Staff were irritating though when they banged on the door. About a half hour after I checked in, I had a staff person banging on the door with a free gift, which was three tiny pieces of licorice. And on Saturday morning at 7:57, a lady was banging on the door wanting to know what time I was checking out. I would have given this hotel a five star rating if I could have had a peaceful experience with no interruptions.

Room Tip: Run your fan nonstop to drown out the noise of the air conditioner going on and off and street noise...

Thank you for the nice ratings. We are fortunate that you gave us a 4 star rating and really appreciate it. Our staff is eager and we will hold them back a little for your next visit. Service is like fine wine. It has a rhythm and time and only experienced and genuine staff master it. Thank you for pointing out their eagerness.
