“Wonderful Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

We loved this place! The room was very spacious and had really nice upgrades. Bed was comfy, shower was really nice. The view overlooking the City was grand. The breakfast was great, too! Very friendly people. Jay, the owner lives right next to the lodge, and it seems as though they keep up the entire place as their own home. Very well-kept and maintained. Definitely coming again!

Awesome place, kind and very helpful owners. Very clean, good generous breakfast. The view can't be beaten. It is so close to downtown, but feels like miles away. We were received so warmly with our dog. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Rooms with view are less quiet Rooms without view are quiet

Our room was small...so what. It was nicely decorated, our beds were extra firm and very comfortable. The place was very quiet. I appreciated that. I took my breakfast and coffee outside and enjoyed the awesome view. The continental breakfast had a large variety. The coffee was very good. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The motel was situated in a great location for visiting the small towns and the Badllands. I didn't need to use the laundry facilities this trip but sometimes I do. It was nice that that was available. If I visit the Black Hills again, I will definetely stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the grill area.

This lodge came highly recommended but we were a little disappointed. Rooms were small, hard beds, continental breakfast so small you had to stand to eat. Older lodge, no outlets except one with a power strip attached where microwave and refrig plugged into. Did have wifi and view of the city was super! No pool only small outdoor hottub.

The view was great, the room was comfortable, and Jay was the perfect host! Whitney was a delight, and we felt like we were staying with family! I am glad we chose to stay here! There is even a microwave and fridge!

This was our first road trip as a family and decided to visit the Badlands and Black Hills. I did a little research using Trip Advisor as well as a couple other sites, and decided to support a local business. So glad I made the decision! The staff at check-in was wonderful and he gave me a couple local recommendations for dinner while in the area (excellent as well). The view is quite amazing and yes, it has a quaint feel, but that is exactly what we were looking for. Our family had absolutely no issues, a wonderful stay and would recommend Big Sky to anyone.

Room Tip: I would recommend requesting a room with a view.

My husband and I stayed at the Big Sky Lodge for 4 days, July 1 through July 4, 2014. The Lodge is centrally located and easy to get to and from for seeing all there is to see in the area, all the monuments and state parks). The staff was very accommodating and friendly and made us feel right at home. The room was on the Skyline Drive side and was very quiet, with a very comfortable bed & the basic amenities. One of the the best parts was Friday July 4th. We were able to sit out at the picnic tables with the other guests looking out over Rapid City and into the Badlands and have a birds eye view of the fireworks being set off thought the city. It was awesome to see the bursts of color every where you looked and not have to fight any traffic to get home afterward. We will be going back with our family in the near future. Thanks Big Sky Lodge for a wonderful home away from home during our visit!!

Room Tip: Older so outlets could be updated.
