“this place rocks?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

This museum located on the SDSMT campus is free of charge and has an amazing variety of rocks and minerals. South Dakota has some amazing geology and this museum has it all, even expansive dinosaur skeletons.

“Dinosaurs, fossils, and rocks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013 via mobile

Several dinosaurs are displayed in shapes that make you think they could come alive at night. Store has selection of plastic play dinosaurs for those kids who already have their T-Rex, along with other kid friendly selections. Nice mineral displays.

“Small but excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

Upstairs in a not-so-easy-to-find building on campus of School of Mines & Technology. Lots of full skeletons of long-extinct animals. Fine mineral and fossil collections. Nice gift shop.

“Surprising collection of gems - great place to go if the weather is bad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

The Museum of Geology is definitely worth finding, and the free admission makes it even better. Having seen many gem and mineral collections, we were surprised by the quality and beauty of this collection. Visitors of all ages were enjoying the displays, even if they previously weren't interested in gems and minerals. Bottom line: worth a second visit!

“Amazing rocks and minerals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

I recently graduated from SDSM&T and have gone to the museum several times. My nieces and nephews were very interested and best of all it's free. If you're in town go stop in and check it out.
