“Phenominally awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

After seeing the reviews, I was very excited to have good Mexican in Rapid. However, this place is NOT. The food is terrible and the service worse. I had quesadillas the first time and chile relleno the second. Both times the food was cold and kind of slimy. The chile was filled with cold cheese product and the pepper itself was mush. The breading smeared off with a touch and looked so bad I didn't even try it. The chips are tough and chewy, like they fried it the day before and then left the soggy chips to get stale. The salsa has good flavor, but is so watery that it just runs off the chips and all over your clothes. Plan on having to specifically ask for every thing you want including refills on water. Add in some overpriced soft drinks and you've got nearly the worst mexican ever made. Never again.

“Excellent authentic Mexican food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012 via mobile

Delicious Mexican food! Family run. Best Mexican in Rapid City. Looks like a hole in the wall but he food is great. My family loves the Carne Asada, pork Al Pastor, the tacos and sopes.

“Yup it was great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012 via mobile

Not your chain Mexican restaurant here. They are all about service and authentic food. They are spot on. If you want a margerita and a big place where a large family can go, this won't be for you. However, if you want authentic food with a corona. It'll be worth your trip.

“Real Mexican Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

No water fountain, margaritas or pictures on the menu--Sabor A Mexico is owned by the cook. She was raised in Northern Mexico and her dishes reflect authentic Mexican recipies. The restaurant is about the size of a two-car garage and far from fancy. The only reason to go is the excellent food. My Chicken Mole was first class and the wife's Carne Asada Quesedilla was the best we have had anywhere--and we live in Texas! Price is good but the food is better.

“Don't be put off by the "hole in the wall" exterior”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2012

My family recently ate at this restaurant while on a vacation. We chose Sabor a Mexico due to some of the tripadvisor reviews, and were not disappointed. I will agree with the people who said this is authentic Mexican, so if you don't like that, you may not like this place. But, having spent a summer in Mexico, and developed the taste for horchata, I was really pleased to see that horchata was one of this restaurant's specialties. The guacamole was also delicious, as were the rice and beans. My husband, who has never been to Mexico, loved the food as well. What impressed me the most about this place was how clean it was--the tables, the floors, and especially the bathrooms. The waiter was really friendly, too. I'd definitely go back!
