“This place is fabulous!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

This is the way to experience South Dakota Black Hills in the true sense of the words. Close to every attraction, yet we walked for 2-6 miles on backroads every morning, seeing deer, wild turkey and very few humans! The cabin was immaculate and spacious enough for us to enjoy each other, family of 5, yet have our own space as well. If you want to have a relaxing vacation in the Black Hills, this is the way to go. We couldn't be happier with our choice of places. The caretakers were fabulous and responsive, yet not hovering. The kids had the pool to themselves most afternoons. It was great!

Room Tip: any space here is great. We had 5 and wanted to do most meals here, so we chose a two bedroom with...

My travel party consisted of 4 adults and 2 children. We stayed at the Back Roads Inn and Cabins, Ingersol Cabin in Keystone for four nights. It was WONDERFUL. The cabin fit our group of 6 well. It had plenty of sleeping space. We prepared most of our meals at the cabin and enjoyed being able to sit around the dinning table to eat together, while being able to look out the many windows at the lush green landscape. The location was terrific; Out of town, yet close enough to many great locations. We visited Custer State Park, Mt. Rushmore, Keystone, Deadwood, Crazy Horse and Rapid City. All a short drive away. The cabins were set far enough apart to feel like we had privacy. The cabin was well equipped. We were also able to play outside, great for the children. I would stay here again and recommend it to everyone. The only downfall is the size of the shower. It is VERY small.

We stayed in the Miners Cabin at the Echo Valley Rd location. The cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed. The location is perfect -- near Keystone and centrally located in the Black Hills. Very close to Mt Rushmore so we were able to visit once in the evening and again another morning. The scenery was breathtaking. Loved driving the secluded road back to the cabins. Marilyn was great about accommodating a change in our travel dates, which we appreciated. Highly recommended staying at BackRoads Inn & Cabins!

We stayed here when we were in the Black Hills Memorial Weekend. Our cabin was the Silver Lining loft. It was very clean and everything we needed was stocked. We went to Rapid City and bought steaks to grill on the gas grill that was on the patio porch then we enjoyed our meal on the table and chairs on the patio porch. The grounds were immaculate and the scenery amazing. Overall the experience was relaxing and enjoyable and we will definitely be back. Marilyn one of the owners is super nice and even showed us one of the bigger cabins. Great weekend!

I would recommend that if you are in the area that you stay with the wonderful owners at the BackRoads Inn & Cabins, they are wonderful people and they make you feel like you are part of their family while you are staying with them, the cabins are clean and comfortable. We have stayed with them in June 2009 & July 2012 and are planning on going back again soon. Enjoyed the beautiful surroundings of the tall pine trees whispering in the wind, the horses that would graze close by, and deer at dusk. While sitting by the fire making new friends, while our children were off making new friends too. Or enjoying relaxing soak in the hot tub on a chilly night. We really enjoyed the early mornings of sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee reading a book or planning out our day of sightseeing. You are off the beaten path far enough, but yet close enough to the attractions in Keystone, Hill City and Rapid City.
The cabins feel like you are home and you don’t want to leave. The BackRoads Inn & Cabins will always have place in my heart. As my family is able to regroup and reconnect from our busy lives.

My wife and I stayed there and had a blast. The rooms are very comfortable, well maintained, and really nicely decorationed. The hot tub was great and the scenery was spectacular. Our time was easily worth twice what we paid. Thanks Back Roads!

Room Tip: Try to find one close to the hot tub.
