“Quiet,comfortable,clean and great staff!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2010

We had two nights booked, and ended up staying a third night. Room was clean and had very comfortable beds. The staff was great and friendly. One staff member in particular, Savanah, helped us by finding another Holiday Inn that we could stay at as we had to change our route home as there were no rooms available. Kids eat free in the restaurant which was great! Business center was also another plus!

Rapid City turned out to be a much better location for visiting Mount Rushmore, etc than the Keystone area. After reading such horrible reviews of the hotels in Keystone we opted to stay in Rapid City over the 4th of July weekend. Good decision. There was a festival on July 4th in a park across the hotel parking lot. There were several reunions/weddings in the reception halls while we were there. The rooms all open out onto the atrium. There is only one elevator bank, with 2 elevators. Problem #1, one of the elevators was broken all four days we were there, and one remaining elevator is not enough for a hotel this size. Problem #2 our room was right in front of the elevators. Everyone who stood there waiting, talked loudly until they finally used the stairs. We used the stairs the whole time, including hauling our luggage. The front desk was very polite and helpful. There was no refrigerator in the room so they had one delivered within the hour. We had a problem with internet connection, both wireless and wired in the room. The tech person couldn't fix it over the phone so they sent a repair person while we were gone the next day. The secure line continued to drop so we ended up using the public access. Not ideal, but it worked. The pool area has a sauna, 2 jacuzzis, and a weight room. Plenty of parking, even during the festival.

While on a tour of the National Parks with Grand Circle Travel, this was our first hotel, and it was a great one to start a great trip! The lobby is really incredible -- 8 stories high, with a glass elevator and multi-level fountains. Wow! The rooms were spacious and very nice. Breakfasts were extremely good, with a cook preparing special order omelets and crispy waffles, in addition to a bountiful buffet. There is also a very interesting little gift shop in the hotel. Location is good, close to downtown (a few blocks' walk). We would definitely recommend this nice hotel.

Stayed here one night. The room was fine, the pool and jacuzzi were good. The exercise room standard. The intereior and lobby are very nice. The shuttle service was great. They picked you up and brought you back to the airport. They also shuttled us to the Mall.

This hotel is right out of a big city. I was so suprised to see this type of Hotel in Rapid City, SD. Staff always had a smile and greeted us when we saw them. Food was the best I have had in a long time. The rooms were very large, modern and clean. Would recommend to everyone!

My family and I stayed one night at the Holiday Inn and woke during the middle of the night with bug bites!! We stripped the bed and found a bed bug!! We immediately called the manager and were moved to another room. The room rate was 150.00 a night!! We did not have to pay this but do not risk staying there because the housekeeper explained to us that bed bugs are rampant and they are having a hard time getting rid of them.

On behalf of the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn,I would like to apologize for the problems you encountered during your stay. Unfortunately, insects and pests occasionally occur at all hotels and are most often brought in by a prior guest. In line with industry practice, we have a regular preventative control program in place and have a very strict procedure if we are notified of an issue in a room. Our local Pest Control Specialist is dispatched immediately and the room is quarantined until it is treated and pest free. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.
