“We only ate at the train restaurant.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014

We stopped at 1880 town to fuel up on our way to the Badlands and we decided to grab lunch at the train restaurant. Our son's burger was fine as was my sandwich. Unfortunately, my wife and daughter's salads and fruit bowls were not edible. The lettuce was brown and the fruit was old, bruised and mouldy. The restaurant should have thrown out the salad and fruit many days before they were served.

“Friendly staff, lots of things to do”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2014

I was really surprised that I ended up staying 1.5 hours here. There was a lot more to do/see then I expected. They keep the place in good condition and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They have Dancing with Wolves memorabilia, 1800s buildings, antiques, old fashion clothes to wear, carriage rides, horses, a camel and cats, and a band. The restaurant was not open when I went, but they serve breakfast and lunch. There is also a gas station. It is worth the stop.

“Family entertainment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2014

We went to the 1880 town and enjoyed the artifacts as well as the musical comedy show. The show was funny and family oriented with a great singer Billy Wyatt and his sidekick. There is also a free buggy ride which was fun. The saloon serves soda, popcorn and ice cream. Children can rent costumes and role play. It was a nice excursion and wish I could have spent more time there.

“A nice break from a long drive ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2014

We stopped to get a break from the road and were pleasantly surprised. Plenty of artifacts, antiques and memorabilia from the movie Dances with Wolves. Also a replicated town of the old west. A fun little pot stop

“A true historical gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

We happened upon 1880 Town while driving from Mitchell to Badlands National Park. We weren't sure what to expect as it looks like it could be some cheesy tourist trap but decided to give it a go anyway. We were so impressed. The buildings are all original (having been moved from elsewhere in the state). The historical furniture and accessories are amazing. If you are into late 1800s/pioneer/westward movement history, this is a must see!
