5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2013

i stayed in lead sd days inn in october during a snow storm they showed excellent hospitality very friendly service we lost power due to storm and they went out of there way to make our stay enjoyable.Rooms were clean and comfy front desk was helpful and courteous. If your going to the hills for vacation or skiing days in lead is the place to stay they even have a shuttle service to deadwood for a affordable price.they even set up red cross there and helped those with medical conditions that were stranded with no heat or power and left the breakfast bar open all day so we had something to eat

Room Tip: stayed in room 323 excellent view of town and church with stained glass windows and cross lite up at...

On one of our many trips to South Dakota due to medical reasons we decided to stay over in Deadwood. Upon choosing hotels we take into consideration location, kid friendly, amenities and customer service. On our most recent visit we had checked into another mom and pop hotel and were extremely floored by the condition of the hotel that we immediately asked for our money back and quickly began the search for another hotel room. This mishap led us to the Days Inn in Lead. I had stayed at the Days Inn in Lead before and knowing the quality of the room as well as the price my 4 kids and I decided to make our stay here once again for the night. Upon our arrival we were promptly greeted by two young men at the front desk who were extremely pleasant and welcoming as well as easy to deal with and talk too. They took time to get to know us and made me feel as though my family's rest was a priority. The check in process was a piece of cake and we were quickly headed to our hotel room for some much needed R&R. (I had worked an overnight shift and had not been to sleep in approx 36 hours) When we needed additional blankets and pillows they were immediately provided without question. The rooms were immaculate and spacious with magnificent views of the Black Hills. Swim Passes were provided upon request to the pool in downtown Deadwood as well as transportation. Overall this stay was a 6 on a five scale! We will definitely stay here again.

Stayed at the Days Inn just after they endured a huge blizzard and the staff did a remarkable job in keeping the hotel running during and after the storm. Housekeepers were great and front desk was very helpful.
During any season I'm sure this is a great location to start your adventure, especially with all the new snow they are located very close to the Ski Resort and have snowmobile rentals right there on site and trails that start right across the street. With a full service bar and restaurant also within the hotel you can go wrong. Added bonus the BEDS are so comfy you won't want to get up, I slept so sound I didn't even realize it was mid morning when I woke up. If you are planning a trip to the Black Hills or passing through I highly recommend staying at the Days Inn.

Stayed for 2 nights on way to Yellowstone; 3 nights on way home. We love the location for the Days Inn. The staff are great. Housekeepers do an awesome job. The rooms we have had are all very large, quiet and the king bed with the pillowtop is very comfortable. We also stayed once in 2012. We have never been bothered by loud neighbors or people in the hall. The continental breakfast has changed since last year, but the area in the great room is clean and the items are fresh. I will hope the hotel gets rid of the quilts and replaces the easy chairs; some updating is needed; also the internet was intermittent when we were there; a better server would take care of the issue. However, that being said, the value is great, staff helpful and housekeeping awesome. For the value, we would absolutely book again! PS/read the blizzard comments, you can't help a weather disaster... I would bet the staff did what they could for their guests. You can't plan for 48" of snow!

Room Tip: Floor overlooking the south was good. Stayed on 4th floor both times in 2013. Carpet in one room n...

During an enormous snowstorm last week, many of us who were trapped in our homes with neither heat or electricity were rescued by police officers, firemen and volunteers and taken to the Days Inn here in Lead. Days Inn provided rooms for all who needed them at no charge. Many elderly who needed ongoing medical care, i.e., oxygen or heart defibrillators, would have been lost without Days Inn. Red Cross and Emergency Management brought necessary equipment to care for those needing it. But it was the graciousness and professionalism of the two young men on duty, and the owner who provided the rooms free of charge who can be considered heroes as well. What would have been a harrowing experience was made so much better by these people. I am deeply grateful to them.

Front Desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Other staff we encountered were also very friendly. Room was fairly clean except for used bars of soap that had been left in the upper corner of the shower. Some supplies were left the second day that had not been in the room the first day. Reservation was supposed to be two beds, but we didn't need to change it. The chairs in the room were dirty and worn. The bathroom (shower and toilet) is very small and it was easier to step out of the bathroom to change clothing. The on site restaurant is only open for breakfast, which is strange because they also serve continental breakfast of cereal, toast, muffins, and small sweet rolls, coffee, juice and milk. However, we saw several people check out the continental breakfast and then head into the restaurant. WiFi did not work the first evening, even after being reset, but was fine the rest of the time. The knob on the heater/air conditioner was very difficult to turn and the heater was noisy. Luckily we did not need to use the heat much.
