We just spent 4 nights at the Spearfish Canyon Lodge and it was wonderful. We stayed in the Custer Suite which has a king bed, gas fireplace, futon, mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave. They have robes for you to use during your stay which come in handy when getting out of the hot tub thats located outside. The bathroom amenities were top of the line and smelled great. You can purchase the full size product in the gift shop. The employees were some of the nicest we have encountered in our travels and went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay.
They have a nice little bar in the lobby and you can order Papa Murphy's pizza to eat there or you can go across the street to the Latchstring Restaurant to eat a more "gourmet" meal. Both are great.
If you are looking for a relaxing, peaceful getaway I would definitely recommend the Spearfish Canyon Lodge.

My husband and I recently stayed here for three nights. While the rooms are not posh, they are clean, well maintained and comfortable. The setting is majestic and we particularly liked the numerous hiking trails right next to the lodge. The hike to the falls is not to be missed. The restaurant across the street is good and reasonably priced. They have charming little chairs right by the creek and my husband and I spent a relaxing afternoon there one day reading. The front office staff was wonderful and did me a huge personal favor. We will be back- loved it!

What a pleasant surprise - not that far away as the crow flies from Deadwood and all of its 'excitement' , but worlds away from the noise and hectic atmosphere. Beautifully situated in the heart of Spearfish Canyon, the main lodge building is all wooden beams, stone fireplace and friendly service. The staff at the front desk was incredibly helpful and seemed truly concerned that we were happy. When we got into our room, after about 5 minutes, the phone rang and it was the front desk asking if the room was satisfactory. I was impressed. The room had all the ameneties (including robes and a cute stuffed bear cub set on the bed.) The only drawback I found was that the walls between the rooms could perhaps have been better insulated. If you had a noisy neighbor (we did not) it might have been an issue.

The restaurant across the street was excellent - highly recommend the trout!

We stayed for our second time at Spearfish Canyon Lodge on 5/16 /07. Four years prior, we had stayed for 2 evenings.

In addition to very comfortable beds , the Lodge boasts a more than adequate restaurant.

The circular main Lodge Room features a massive stone fireplace. Tall windows allow fortunate guests to have panoramic views of the Canyon. In an alcove guests can select from a series of adult beverages which then can be savored in the Lodge Room.

No double Makers Mark was ever more satisfying than in front of a blazing fire at this place, at that time.

More ambitious types can avail themselves of three trails which proceed from the Lodge. Two are easy and one is a nice climb to the top of the canyon. We took these trails our first time there.

In adition to the ambiance ,the staff were outstanding


We will definitely return for a longer time in the future.
