“Nice Stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

This was a very nice B&B! Everyone was very nice and welcoming. We stayed in the Mediterranean Room-it was very clean and spacious. The hot tub on the patio was nice and hot and a great place to relax.

The only complaint we had was the hot tub kept making noise all night. If you are a light sleeper, like i am, I suggest bringing a small fan with you or maybe ask if they have one you could use.

If we are ever back in The Black Hills and looking for a place to stay, we will stay here!!

Four of us stayed four nights at Coyote Blues in the Swiss and the Lakota Rooms. We were initially concerned about the location since it seemed to be quite remote from the tourist locations we wanted to visit or revisit in the Black Hills. We very quickly realized that these concerns were unfounded. The remoteness of the location is, in reality, one of the B&B's assets; and it didn't take that long to get wherever we wanted to go in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting out on our adjoining patios in the evenings drinking wine and playing Uno or Farkle with no sounds other than the buzzing of the bumblebees, the chirping of the birds, and the wind rustling through the woods that surround Coyote Blues.

The themed rooms were quite comfortable, each with a king-size bed, a sofa, and a small refrigerator. Our room, the Lakota, had glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling and an incredibly large Jacuzzi. Coffee pots were set up in the hall so early risers could turn on the pots and have a cuppa before breakfast. Altogether quite commodious.

Breakfast each morning was a real treat with Christine and Hanspeter serving a breakfast that was was reminiscent of morning meals we've had in Europe. This was not surprising, of course, since they are from Switzerland. Particularly memorable--a delicious blueberry dish that was a cross between a tart and a pudding.

The only negative-each room was not furnished with a hair dryer. There was one out in the hallway to be shared among 3-4 rooms, but one needs to be reasonably attired to step out in the hall after ones shower! Since these items are so inexpensive, I didn't understand this lack. But this is a very small negative in an otherwise outstanding B&B.

Delayed post but we stayed here two summers ago and had an absolute blast. My children still say this was one of their favorite places we have gone. The owners go out of their way to make you feel at home and comfortable. Close to all the attractions, clean, and a wonderful breakfast that kept us full all morning!! We will go back!

A great place to stay and get away. You feel like you are deep in the forest but really just a short drive to the highway. Quiet and remote yet so close to all the attractions in the black hills.
Good food and nice hospitality. Back to nature with all the convinces of home.

My husband and I spent two nights in the Lakota Room while we were on vacation in South Dakota. Our room was comfortable. There was a special light at night that could be turned on so there are stars on the ceiling of the room. We really enjoyed the starry night on our ceiling. This room also had a great 2 person jacuzzi tub in addition to a shower in the bathroom. We also had an outdoor patio since we were on the lower level. That was nice so we could enter and exit through the patio. The owners and staff were very friendly. The breakfasts had European flair and were delicious! We were surprised how busy the B & B was when we visited since it was off season in the area. The other guests were nice and the owners did an amazing job with the breakfasts since everybody ate at the same time. The location was great too. It wasn't very far away from Hill City. That was one of our favorite towns in South Dakota.

The crisp clarity of the night sky with the moon and stars beautifully glowing over head in the hot tub of Mediterranean room was beautifully romantic. Our room was spacious, comfortable and private. We appreciated the beauty of the Black Hills nature at Coyote Blues. Hans and Christine are wonderful hosts with their European flare and their delightful accents. The breakfast was made with great detail and a wonderful presentation. With such a wide variety of options, no one went away hungry.

Room Tip: Any of the theme rooms.

This bed and breakfast had a great location, between hill city and rapid city (just be aware its up a dirt road and takes a while to get anywhere, particularly restaurants). The rooms were clean, the inn keepers were friendly and we enjoyed our three night stay here this summer! Breakfast was delicious, although not what I'm used to since it involved cold cuts and occasionally dessert. It was fun to meet the other guests, and if I am in the black hills again, I would definitely return.
