Julie and Paul are wonderful people that have a great campground. If you are looking for a million dollar resort, this is not it. But if you want a nice, clean, quiet campground within a short distance to all the things to see and do in SD, this is the place to go.
We had a site up in the 60's, so it was up on the top end of their RV spots and VERY quiet. They have more closer to the road and to the office, but we liked being out in the "boonies". There were pine trees all around and you couldn't hear traffic at all. Paul was working on the pool, so the first couple of days was pool free, but then it was up and running and in great condition. The playground was a great hit with my children. They have a jungle gym, sunken tires and a couple of play cabins for the kiddos to play in. They were always working on the campground while we were there putting in new trees, updating the pool and regraveling everything. The local highway maintenance even helped by re-surfacing the entire road up to them. They also have a laundry room with washers and dryers (make sure you push the button for the washers on the BOTTOM row, not the top), and they have a bath house with showers and a bath.
Sylvan lake is just a couple miles up the road from there, Mt. Rushmore is right around the corner around 10 miles away, Hill City is 3 miles away, and the Mikelson Trail is right at Highway 16, 2 miles from the campground. Rapid City is 26 miles away, and you can get to Bear Country, Reptile Gardens, Old MacDonald's Farm, Christmas Village, Sitting Bull Caverns and a bunch more stuff within 30 minutes. Crazy Horse is just down the road between Custer and the turn off to the campground on Highway 16. Everything is super close and easy to get to.
