“Convenient & friendly location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

Just stayed here last night. It was spotlessly clean. Staff at the desk were very friendly and helpful with planning morning activities. It's very close to Crazy Horse Monument & Mt. Rushmore. Breakfast was good & view is nice.

A late review. Stayed here 4 times between June and August 2012. Back then, good rooms, nice lobby, great staff, and super brkfst. When the weather's warm, sit on the deck and dine. A little too far to walk into town for a meal. Would be great if they had an inhouse restaurant or grill. Adjacent fuel station used to have one, but is vacant now. Was still the tourist season and a bit pricey for me, but...........I'll try it again shortly!

Room Tip: Room on east side gives nice view of meadow. West side gets you the parking lot and road.

This hotel was very nice. Nice clean rooms. Friendly at the manager Mr.Chad and front desk also. Breakfast provide very nice and clean. I would give this hotel a 5 out of 5. It was located near the Russ more. They have a wonderful indoor heated pool and nice view from breakfast area on back side. we would stay again and suggest our friends and family. We are very impress for everything.

Room Tip: Best Service, price and quality

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

I took a trip to the Black Hills and decided to stay here for no particular reason. I hadn't been to a Quality Inn since a child so I didn't know what to expect as far as quality of service and the like. I have to say that for a Choice Hotel I was impressed. As such, I will review the hotel from what is expected for price, and not direclty compare it to a five star hotel, which I see as not only unfair but also pointless since the review doesn't speak to the key demographic.

Before check in I called and notified the hotel that I would be checking in late. Upon arrival, I realized the front door was locked and I had to hit a key to speak with the woman at the front desk. Once I confirmed my identity, I was let in. I'd never seen this setup before, and the hotel isn't in a shady location from what I could discern, but it is an added layer of security that may make you feel safer. My room, which was on the first floor, also had a door to the outside parking lot with a deadbolt in addition to the main entrance from the hallway.

The room itself was impressive. My room was large and had a hot tub. If the reader isn't familiar with this type of room, the hot tub is situated in the corner of the main room. The hot tub worked wonderfully. There was also a small table on which to work, and a TV with a wide array of channels. Also in the bathroom was actually decent soft toilet paper, a nice touch which by the way, doesn't go unnoticed.

The breakfast was complimentary and is exactly what you would expect from this level of hotel. There was nothing made to order. I only ate breakfast one day but it was the normal scrambled eggs with a meat, and then some cereals, deserts, juices, and milk.

There was an indoor pool which was alright, if just a bit small. Also a hot tub if you didn't want to use the one in your room, but it had a plastic mold and didn't feel of nice quality. Room service was also punctual and performed to expectations. There was also one washer and dryer on site that I saw, which seemed highly coveted so I never got to use it. I can't speak for valet laundry but I presume it did not exist. There was also not a gym at all, although I did not expect one so it didn't dampen my spirits any.

The location is great to see the sights, but there wasn't much in Hill City other than that. I couldn't imagine you would come here for any other reason, so it's not a big pitfall.

I would definitely stay here again.

My daughter and I stayed here for 2 nights in September 2012 and could not fault it. Clean, quiet, comfortable, friendly and helpful staff and a great breakfast. The price was good too. Ideal centre for exploring Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial and the Custer State Park. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Quality Inn in Hill City, SD three nights as we toured Mt. Rushmore and surrounding area. The staff were great and the rooms were clean. Morning breakfasts were busy, but the staff worked hard on making sure food and supplies were replemished as needed. If there would have been small refrigerators in our rooms, the rating would have been excellent. Being able to chill water/soda overnight is so convenient instead of trying to put ice around a bottle or can in an ice bucket. To be fair, I did not ask if we could have a small refrigerator in either of the rooms.

Great location within walking distance of Hill City shops and restaurants. It was really nice to sit out on the balcony area out back in the evening - very quiet and relaxing. The breakfast had a good choice.
