“Not the normal guest house”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013 via mobile

I haven't stopped in a guest house for a number of years.. But what a lovely place. We wherein Norfolk for a family get together and needed somewhere for the 2of us.. When we got there the owners were out but had left a message on the door for us to contact them.. All good and it did all it said in the letter.. Great cooked breakfast with all local produce, plenty of choice of cereal and jams for toast with 2different vitiates.. Bed was very comfy, en-suite was a wet room with plenty of room. Great place if you want a nice clean guest house.. Well done to the owners

Thank you for your review. We welcome your kind comments and endeavor to provide good value for money. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay.
Our rooms vary in size and are priced accordingly. For longer stays we recommend the upstairs rooms which offer more space ensuring you receive the best stay ever. It will be good to welcome you back to our guest house when you are next staying in south Norfolk. Thank you.

Stayed for 1 night with my wife in early November for a family get together. Owners were lovely, room was clean and spacious with a new bathroom en-suite. Breakfast was also lovely with lots of local produce, and lots of resources available for places to go and eat.

Would recommend.

Wonderfull,Everything we needed for our 4 night stay it was a very comfortable bedroom which was spacious, and clean, a full english breakfast if you wanted it and even Kippers on the menu to.Simon and his wife are wonderful hosts, genuine, friendly and full of information. The pub was just over the road good food and very friendly.I must say that you need a torch when walking over to the pub as there isn't any street lighting. The guest house is very central to where we wanted to go.

Thank you very much for your review on Trip advisor. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us.
The property is the old village school and is located on the edge of the village. We are just a short walk from the pub and are more than happy to lend torches for those dark evenings! we look forward to welcoming you back when you are next in the area.

A gem. A bit further out of Norwich than I expected ( 13 miles) but worth the trip. I stayed for a week and cannot fault it, I suppose the 2 hours per day limit on the wifi is a niggle but this is not the owners fault but the poor broadband coverage in the area. The rooms are spotless and the breakfast is excellent with no shortage of food in fact Simon the owner gets upset if you have too little he likes to make sure you start the day with a hearty breakfast cooked on a range cooker not the usual frying pan full of fat in most b&bs. Nice pub across road which is the smallest pub I have ever seen but serves good food and is very friendly. I would definately stay again if in the area.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Trip Adviser. Apologies for the delay in responding. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and can now add that the internet is greatly improved and through Polkaspot we are able to offer extended free wi fi. If ever you are in the area again please look us up as we would love to welcome you back to our home for a "Simon breakfast".

Everything I needed for a very comfortable two day stay. Very warm welcome from attentive hosts. Small but comfortable room with adequate ensuite facilities. The excellent breakfast was the perfect start to each day.

A friendly welcome (cup of tea on arrival), spacious, comfortable rooms, beautifully cooked breakfast and a pleasing attention to detail made this one of the most enjoyable guest house stays my family can remember. Simon, the owner, is a wonderful host; genuine, friendly and a wealth of information and trip ideas. All this in a corner of Norfolk that's unspoilt, peaceful and blessed with some wonderful pubs and eateries. Southwold is just a 30-40 minute drive and even closer is the St George's whisky distillery and Bressingham Gardens, both of which are well worth a visit.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor are suitable for those with mobility problems but they are smaller than th...

On arrival my wife and I received a very warm welcome from Simon who could not have been more helpful during our weeks stay. He proved to be of great assistance with his extensive knowledge of the area and eating establishments. We found the rooms very clean and well appointed. The high quality breakfast provided is extremely generous and nothing is too much trouble for Simon and Heather who go to great lengths to provide a 1st class service. This was our first visit but will certainly not be the last.
