“Historic,, lovely furnishings, perfect location, friendly ghosts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2009

My husband and I spent 3 nights, Thursday-Saturday at the Bullock Hotel. We've been
to Deadwood before. Last year we stayed at the Franklin, which is about a 2 on scale
of 1-10. Bullock is at least an 8. Beautiful historic furnishings in room. We upgraded to
the Bullock Suite ,our original room, 201, was roomy and lovely but with a window looking into the hallway was a bit claustrophobic for me, we still got the AAA discount which helped with the price or the suite.. Great decision to upgrade. This room was gorgeous, included a jacuzzi tub...lovely view of Mainstreet.
Even though is was a smoking room(we don't smoke), never smelled any smoke, it
didn't bother us in the room and I am allergice to smoke.
Perfect location if you want to stay a few days, gamble, dine out,run gifts up to the room between shops, listen to blues (right across the street) or listen to Yancy at the Buffalo Stockade (1 block down, outside bar).
The lobby has slots but isn't a busy feel like the others in town. Nice, relaxing,
calm place to gamble. The ghost tour was fun. Didn't see old Seth Bullock but did
get some pictures with orbs and other mysterious things in the room mirror.
The parking, included is right across the street to the back, can't be more convenient
than this.
We had a great time, would absolutely come back again and try to get in one of the
suites again. Staff was friendly, ghosts were friendly...perfect time was had by all.

We came from White Rock, BC to partake in the Deadwood experience!! We got all that we asked for. The charm of the Bullock, the staff, the stories, the history, the night life was well worth the trip. To see history alive in this great place just made us want to go back for more. There are so many day trips that you can do while you are in Deadwood. There were so many other neat little places that we found along the streets of Deadwood that gave more character to our adventure. The homes on the hillsides made it more quaint. We will be going back soon for another visit

We only got to to stay one night at the Bullock Hotel but it was great. We chose the Bullock for its history and possible hauntings. Everyone from the front desk to the casino were so nice and helpful. Our boys had a blast checking out the hotel and taking pics. Yes we had orbs in a few of them. Sheriff Seth Bullock ?? Maybe... We can't wait to go back to the Bullock Hotel and Deadwood.

We decided to stay at the Bullock for one night since it is supposed to be haunted. We were assigned Room 214 and it was very nice. Large, clean and looked like it had been recently remodeled. I've seen apartments this size. The staff was friendly; front desk, cashier, waitresses. The old furniture on the first floor just made it look like what we might imagine it looked like back in the day.

yeah traveled like all day and night to get here. asked for a haunted room, the staff pretty much acted like i was stupid to ask for that saying they didnt have any. even tho theres a sign about 6ft from the front desk advertising the ghost tour. they put me in a room on the 3rd floor. it was clean, had a male prescence. everything was alright except i got woken up early morning hours to the trash people emptying out the dumpsters. not pleasant waking up after 4 hrs sleep after having driven 10 hrs to bang bang bang so loud as the dumspters bang down on the ground. uggh. other than that it was ok.

The Bullock has a lot of historic charm. You really feel as if you've stepped back into 19th century Deadwood. Our room was very large and comfortable with antique-style furnishings, with a sink area in the room itself and another in the bathroom. The staff is great and very helpful. The hotel is located right on historic Main Street and is close to lots of casinos, shops, restaurants and historic sites. I'd certainly go back again. (Didn't see the ghost, though.)

My wife and I have traveled to Dead Wood annually since 1996 and have stayed in just about all the hotels and motels. We keep coming back to the bullock and just re-reserve the same room for the next year at check out . We have stayed at the bullock branch for three years and prefer this to the main building. We have never had a bad experience in Dead Wood and plan to retire there.
