“Deadwood with a View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

This hotel has a great location for walking to everything and their parking is convenient to their building. The doorman was very helpful in giving directions through the casino to the hotel lobby elevator. The lobby is beautiful and welcoming as were the members of the staff.

We booked a king room with a balcony which we enjoyed immensely. Our view of town was the best. The room was nicely decorated and very comfortable. The only drawback was that one could hear the plumbing anytime it was used in the surrounding area.

Thank you for choosing Deadwood Mountain Grand as your host during your recent visit to Deadwood. I am pleased that you enjoyed the view from your balcony room. Please know I have forwarded your comments on the plumbing to our maintenance department. Again, thank you for choosing Deadwood Mountain Grand, and we hope to see you again in the near future!

Great, unique hotel. I love the way it is split, on 2 levels. The Casino, then up and into the hotel. Rooms large, and spotless (though it is relatively new). Staff were polite and helpful. Porters wer brilliant! Decent Pool and hot tub. Shame they couldnt provide some sort of breakfast in the price. We had also requested a balcony room on booking, but were told they were all booked, and it would be extra anyway. The website didn't make this clear. However, a lovely hotel and we enjoyed our stay

We stayed at the Deadwood Mountain Grand for the second time and would come back in a heartbeat! Hotel staff is courteous, helpful, and extremely nice! Rooms are exceptionally clean and well maintained. Definitely recommend the balcony rooms, if you can get one! Of all the places we stayed on our trip to South Dakota/Wyoming/Montana areas, this was by far the best!

Room Tip: Balcony rooms have great views of the city!

We stayed here for 3 nights/4 days, and had a great time. Hotel accommodations were fantastic. Room extremely comfortable, staff attentive and welcoming. We plan on coming back next year. Great spot as a base for exploring the Black Hills area. Take a walk around town, eat at the Howling Hawg diner and the Deadwood Social Club. Eat, drink, and gamble in the hotel as well. Best accommodations in Deadwood bar none. I will recommend this hotel to everyone. Fantastic time. Don't miss the cemetery tour (climb to top of Mt. Noriah as well).

After a couple of nights of "roughing it" in basic motels, this hotel/casino was a real treat. The casino/restaurant portion is in the rebuilt "slime plant" where ore and water were mixed in mining days. You'd never know, except from the outside with its' shiny tin exterior. The hotel commands a view from the mountainside, but is just half a block from the action downtown. The hotel portion is new - just 2 years old. We had a very plush room. Service was outstanding. We'd followed a tour bus in, but our valet made us a priority, and even helped my husband bring all the bags to check-in. (Love my husband, but he'd never found it otherwise!) The same valet found us a luggage cart as the tour bus was departing. Front desk was very professional.

Room Tip: We were on the first floor; our window faced the hill side about 6 feet away. (No peeping toms, for...

The room was large, well appointed, very clean, with a great bathroom. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The casino was fun and well appointed. Overall we had a great time staying here and seeing the sights in the area.

We've been to Deadwood a number of times and we always enjoy the fun times. But this was the first time we stayed at the Deadwood Mountain Grand. It was a wonderful experience from the moment we arrived in the parking garage and met Jerry. He took care of us all the way to check in and to our room. He gave us a tour, told us all about the history and generally made us feel very welcome. We will definitely return.
