“Great place to stay...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

Stayed for for 6 nights for Sturgis Bike week. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.

The rooms are your typical HI Express rooms. They were very clean, but not the largest rooms I have ever stayed in. The rooms were cleaned everyday with really no complaints. Our biggest issue was that our room overlooked the lobby of the hotel, so you had to keep the shades drawn, which made it VERY dark. We were on the 2nd floor, so you may ask for a higher floor or a room with an outside view. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom sink was in the room, and not in the bathroom.

There was a free breakfast every morning. Also, parking is not on the premises, but just across the street, in a parking garage.

I think for bike week, this was a fantastic place to stay. It was right in the middle of Main Street, so you can walk to most restaurants, bars, and shops in less than 5 minutes. The parking garage was a plus for us, because it kept the bikes dry.

The staff was EXTREMELY helpful in finding us a place to park our truck and trailer. We will definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Get a room where the window looks outside of the building and not into the lobby.

We were on vacation in the Black Hills on a day trip through Deadwood to go to Devil's Tower when our truck broke down. We needed to stay overnight in Deadwood, so we called the Holiday Inn. The person who answered the phone was very polite and helpful. We booked a double room for the evening and were very impressed with the property. The lobby and our room were both very clean and up to date. The pool area was very nice. The breakfast in the morning was quite good, especially compared to other hotels. The location is by far the best part of the property. There was an old west "shoot out" in the street right in front of our window where they capture the guy who shot Wild Bill. The hotel was walking distance to just about anything you would want in Deadwood, and there is a trolly stop just outside the hotel where you can ride just about anywhere for $1. All in all, we would stay there again if we're in Deadwood.

wow what can I say. This hotel is clean, the staff are friendly, helpful and more then willing to help. The continental breakfast was good. Beds were comfortable. The location was close to everything that we needed. They even paid for parking. Most hotels won't do that.

We had a room with two queen beds that were both so broken down that it was almost impossible for two people to sleep in the same bed. The hotel is in desperate need of updating. The only good thing about the stay was the better than average continental breakfast. Seating area for breakfast wasn't adequate so people were sent into the smokey bar in the casino to eat.

This turned out to be a good choice for Deadwood, right off of Main Street. Close to all the resturants, bars, casinos & attractions. I was a little concerned about the parking arrangements, but it worked out fine. Getting a place in the loading zone, upon arrival was a little difficult, but we made another round.

Rooms were good, enjoyed the pool & breakfast.

The "no smoking" room had the overwhelming smell of smoke. The sheets felt wet, everyone slept on top of the very lumpy broken down mattress. The carpet was worn, smelled of smoke, and was so stained I didn't want to walk barefoot on it. The seats of the broken down chairs were stained with who knows what. Bathrooms were updated and clean. Staff were friendly. One person could not keep up with breakfast, pancake machine was broken, they were out of cinnamon rolls, eggs, sausage. No close parking available, had to park and walk through a questionable area. All these experience's for $119. I will have to think long and hard about using Holiday Inn Express(anywhere) again.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else !!

Your experience is definitely not reflective of the high standards we usually pride ourselves with. As such, your comments will be forwarded to the ownership of the hotel to take into consideration for future improvements where possible. While we understand that your stay was not 100% satisfactory, we would hope that you would give us another chance to make your stay as best as it can be.

We stayed here two nights, and really enjoyed the hospitality at this hotel. Although it is not convenient to many Black Hills sites, if you are a Wild West fan, you will enjoy Deadwood. This hotel is perfectly placed, right off of Main Street with its casinos and Wild Bill Hickok attractions. We did not spend that much time in the hotel itself, but the rooms were a good size and clean. The staff was uniformly friendly and professional. Be sure to "print" yourself a pancake for breakfast ("making 1 of 1"). They had an amazing array of selections for such a small space. We also checked out the fitness room which included a treadmill, elliptical and a couple of other cardio machines. Parking is free, at a parking garage that is about a block away. Since the hotel entrance is not on Main Street, we had more than enough time to unload and re-load our vehicle and did not feel the need to carry any of our luggage to and from the parking garage.
