My husband and I visited the Crazy Horse Memorial while touring the Black Hills. We had been to Mount Rushmore the same day. When we arrived admission was 8 dollars which my husband thought was a little high. But we decided to pay it anyway and we were glad we did. We discovered that the Crazy Horse Memorial takes no money from the federal government. Even though the monument is not complete, the visitor center has much to see, and one comes away with a sense of history and the culture of the native people who are trying to hold on to the sacred in the Black Hills in spite of U.S. government policies that have not always been benevolent or respectful.
