“Great spot for quiet stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2008

Excellent spot for a quiet night rest. Well appointed. Friendly staff. Close to interstate, yet quiet. Approximately 3 miles from downtown Chamerlain.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2008

We needed a stop en route to Mt. Rushmore, and picked Chamberlain. Based on other reviews of this AmericInn, we booked a room online. The hotel looks new and is well maintained, with a nice lobby area. The room is very basic, with few amenities, the bath towels were those cheap, thin things you rarely see any more, but overall it was just fine for staying overnight. The free breakfast was just average.

Two issues: the first is that this is a two story hotel with *no elevator.* Not a problem if you're traveling lightly, but we were on a month-long trip and had a lot of things to bring inside and I have some minor disabilities, and..., you guessed it, our room was on the second floor.

Secondly, the desk clerk was a young lady with an attitude that said she'd rather be anywhere but where she was. She looked annoyed when we arrived (which was late) because she was reading a book and clearly didn't like being interrupted. Upon being assigned a room and asking where the elevator was, I was told there was no elevator. When I explained that I had some disabilities and that we had a lot of luggage and could we please be moved to the first floor, I was dismissed with a surly "we don't have any rooms on the first floor." No apology, no attempt to be helpful. So, if you plan to stay here and have problems lugging items upstairs, I suggest you request a first floor room when booking.

It's an okay place, but the staff was sorely lacking in helpfulness.

  • Liked — The location and the cost
  • Disliked — Lack of an elevator, unfriendly desk clerk

We stayed here on our way to Mount Rushmore. Hotel is very new, and log cabin style. Hotel is right off of I-90. Clean rooms. We arrived late so we did not take advantage of the pool and hot tub but it looked very busy with families.
Breakfast in the morning was OK. Waffles, biscuits and gravy and cold hard boiled eggs. I prefer a hot egg of some sort but it kept us going until lunch.

Stayed for one night in July, 2008. Nice, well maintained hotel for price. Located just off the interstate but to the east of Chamberlain.

Rooms are average size with microwaves and fridges. Americinn bill themselves as having the quietest rooms because of their construction. It was very quiet the night I stayed but not sure if that was due to room construction or due to not many travelers that evening. It was nice and quiet, however.

There is a very small exercise room but does have a couple pieces of equipment. Property has a pool, conference rooms and lounge. Free continental breakfast and free popcorn in afternoons. Wireless access and computer in lobby for guests. Had a very pleasant stay.

Really good, clean roadside hotel for the price. Breakfast was so so, but rooms were clean and beds were comfy. I have stayed at more expensive hotels in this area that were no better and 25.00 more per night. Staff was great. I will definitely stay here again.

We stayed one night here on a cross country trip. The Staff was very friendly and gave us good info on where to go for dinner, etc. The room was good size and roomy, bathroom very nice (great shower)

The breakfast was very good. Everything was spotless.

I would definitely stay there if in the area again.
