“Not so much a tour as a tasting, but YES!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

After three days downtown Charleston my husband wanted to get outside of the city and explore. I remembered a few reviews on firefly distillery and winery and we had a few of their products in our dinner drinks. It's a family owned winery and distillery. Their is no real tour, but tasting. Six samples of spirits for $6 (keep the shot glass) and on the winery side five samples for $5 (keep the glass). Their are animals to visit and you can walk through the vineyards. It is a nice stop if you are visiting the tea plantation or angel tree.

“Great activity for friends, but beware of potential TSA issues”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

If you're staying in Charleston and don't have a car, you might be out of luck. But if you do have transportation, the 30-45 minute drive from Charleston onto Wadmalaw Island is relaxed and has numerous things to see, including the Irvin House Vineyards and Firefly Distillery (located on the same grounds), the Charleston Tea Plantation, and Angel Oak.

The distillery itself was fun, but allow some extra time in case of crowds. When we walked in, the tasting bar was already completely full. But if it is, you can always wander around in the vineyards or check out the animals while you wait.

The tastings (including moonshine, sweet tea vodka, etc) were great, and at only $6 including keeping the glass, it was a good value for us. We also purchased quite a number of bottles to take home for our friends during the holidays. The one thing I would mention to folks is that the people at the airline counter told us that they may be confiscated through TSA because it's moonshine. As it turns out, TSA checked our box of alcohol and passed it through, but it's something to consider. At $20 a jar for the moonshine, you have to decide whether to take the risk, or purchase some of their lower-proof offerings instead.

“Nice place to to visit but.....beware of buying”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

We enjoyed our stop there on our vacation. There are animals to check out for the kids. We tasted products in the distillery and did the wine tasting also. Altogether between gift shop products, the wine and distillery products we spent almost×200. I bought two bottles of their lemonade vodka. The employee explained that it is freshly made and should be used by date on the bottle or put in the freezer. The date was 8/22. Recently aI went to give a bottle to a friend and noticed a lot of sediment on the bottom and floating around. Ten days ago I went on their website and realized there is not a contact number. I left a message on their email page. I still haven't received a response. A local friend found a phone number. I called and left a message. No answer.

“WINE AND LIQUOR TASTING”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

A nice drive through the country to visit a combination winery and "distillery." Nice shaded location with plenty of parking under the trees. Small animal farm for the kids, Live music and snacks. For $6 you try five Firefly products,
