“What a Treat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2007

Just returned from a few evenings at La Bastide and have rave reviews to report. Warm and friendly staff, fabulous food and extremely plush bedding. Wonderfully appointed rooms, all different, with one of the best mattresses we've ever slept on. Highly recommend for that special weekend away!!.

Our 3 days at La Bastide couldn't have been more pleasant. The room was nicely decorated and very clean. At our disposal was a pantry stocked with beverages and snacks. A delicious full breakfast is included. We also enjoyed a wonderful meal in their restaurant.

My only disappointment was our view of the parking lot (room #10). Our friends stayed in the Chablis room which not only had a beautiful mountain view but a working fireplace.

Just got back from our weekend at the inn. Loved every minute of it! We went to celebrate our 20th anniversary.
Room was great, wonderful bedding!
Turn down service was excellent!
Ate at the restaurant for dinner and the food was out of this world!
Service was top notch!
Don't miss the breakfast, again fantastic!
Can't wait to go back!

We have stayed at La Bastide on four different occasions and it has never disappointed us. Four times, four different rooms, each one unique and lovely...from the furnishings to the views. Wonderful pampering. Both floors have a "snack" closet to have coffee before going in for breakfast, plus other soft drinks and snacks. Inn is meticulously kept and the service couldn't be better. Staff is helpful and friendly.Breakfast is a real treat. Dining room has wonderful atmosphere, great wines and wonderful food.

La Bastide was BY FAR... The best place I have ever stayed. It was so private and romantic for my husband and I. We woke up to a hot breakfast that had us looking forward to the next morning. (Not to mention the chocolate truffles that were left on our pillows) The dinner at La Bastide's restaurant was OUTSTANDING! The service was incredible. We sat outside on the balcony and got to watch the sunset while eating dinner. The entire staff was so considerate and polite. If you do not wish to stay in the inn, I definately recommend La Bastide's restaurant.

Just returned from SC/NC and La Bastide. Absolutely lovely inn. Each room is decorated differently. We stayed in the room Kevin Costner apparently usually stays in. Extremely comfortable. The bed and bedding were divine. Large bath. Fireplace. View. The service there is excellent. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was included each day and was very good. We also ate at the Restaurant two nights and had very memorable meals. Most people staying there are Cliffs property owners or potential Cliffs property owners...it is in the middle of no where. Asheville is about 45 min away. Also good sight-seeing, state parks and visiting the various Cliffs communities was fun but we did alot of driving.

The Inn has a hospitality station on each floor stocked with goodies, coffee, tea, pop and water. You won't go hungry. The small library is comfy with a leather sofa, fireplace, chess set and many books and magazines to peruse. The staff showed us many of the rooms as they became unoccupied...all were decorated beautifully. I would not recommend this inn for small children. We enjoyed the primarily adult atmosphere. One night turn down service included chocolate dipped strawberries! Need I say more!

  • Liked — Attention to detail - room
  • Disliked — when the furnace kicked on it made a whistling noise -kept me awake one night
  • Tips/Secrets — Buy some wine in Greenville and cheese and have a picnic on terrace at La Bastide!
