“Terrible Stay - Too Much Noise”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2008

My wife and I stayed overnight on Friday evening, October 17, 2008 at this hotel. Around one o'clock in the morning we heard a lot of noise coming from the room on the floor above us. The noise sounded like many children screaming and jumping on the floor. We called the desk and complained. The desk clerk was alone so she called and requested that the guests in this room quiet down as they were disturbing the other guests. The noise however continued for another hour. After several more calls to the desk, the police were finally called. A bachelorette party was taking place. It is not clear why management would allow a party to take place in a hotel room on the fourth floor where there were sleeping guests. The group of people in this room were told by the police that they would be evicted if they did not quiet down. The noisy guests finally became quiet around 3 am. While checking out the next day, we heard that there were five other complaints from guests regarding the noise problem.

The bottom line is that there was only one young women at the desk for the overnight shift and there was no security availabile in the event of a problem. We were kept awake for about three hours that evening. This problem was not the fault of the person at the desk but management which did not have a security person to oversee unruly guests. We therefore would never return to this hotel again and would advise any of our friends from doing so.

Do not stay at this hotel. The rooms were extremely dirty. It was clear that the sheets were had not been washed after the previous guests checked out. The room smelled like cigarette smoke an urine. When we comlained to managment, we were all but ignored.

Holiday In should be embarassed to have this hotel as part of their franchise.

We would recommend staying away.
We had several rooms reserved for a week long birthday party for my dad. The front desk routinely balked at giving us the confirmed rates. Even when presented with written confirmation they kept trying to add extra charges. The $40 per night for my fathers two dogs we felt was excessive.
The pool was cold and the hot tub dirty. This is a new hotel but I can see that down the road the property will become run down.
The hotel refuses to fly the American flag. The taller middle pole is empty. On the other poles they do fly the Holiday Inn flag and SC state flag. Our group has several active and retired military members. We respect there right no to fly but they also must understand our right not to spend our money at there property.
As I am writing this our group is making arrangements at another hotel in the area and will be checking out shortly.

My family and I stopped here on our way back to Miami from Washington, D.C. All I can say is FANTASTIC! We didn't have reservations, yet the front desk staff was extremely accommodating and gave us a room at a very reasonable rate. The room itself was very clean and had a flat screen T.V. Didn't expect that at a roadside Holiday Inn. We had just stayed at two different Embassy Suites during our trip, and this Holiday Inn was right up there in quality and cleanliness.

We were tired and decided to eat dinner at the restaurant located in the hotel. Delicious! The service and food were wonderful. They even have TV's in the booths which kept the kids entertained. We also had breakfast there the next morning and it too was wonderful, not to mention that the prices were extremely reasonable. Probably the best and most inexpensive meals we had all trip!

All in all, I would not hesitate to stay here again with my family.

We were staying with a small dog so they put us on the disgusting floor. It is half smoking and half non-smoking but all stinks like smoke. The carpets in the hall are stained and dirty. Our room was old dirty carpets and wall paper peeling. We pay extra for a dog and get less. The chairs in the lobby were dirty and dishelved looking. This is the most expensive hotel in the area and was nasty. They wanted to move us but did not have the same room and would not put us on a non-smoking floor due to the dog who is cleaner than anything there.
The waitress in the restaurant was very nice and served us in the lobby so the dog could stay with us and not in the filthy room.
We stayed in many rooms less expensive that provided more. VERY DISSAPPOINTED IN THE HOLIDAY IN!!!!
