“A real experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

I knew that this was an all you can eat buffet but when we arrived there was a queue and it wasn't immediately obvious what you did and how you did it - so I'll prepare you. You pay first, then you get a plate, fill it with food and find a seat in one of the linked buildings. You can then get more mains or desert.
However there is another, much cheaper, option which works well if you have an average appetite - buy the food to take away. The choice is a small or a large plate. We chose the latter which entitled us to 1 meat and 3 veg but with added hush puppies, sauce for rice etc it was more than we could eat.All for 6.75 dollars.
The food was of mixed quality. The vegetables were mostly drowning in liquid and overcooked but the flavour was fine. My ribs were a bit tough but my wife's chicken could not be faulted. Desserts were blancmange type (but you don't get a desert with "to go")
I would go again.
Only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday all day and Sunday lunchtime.

“Delicious and Fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

Long drives need a pleasant diversion and the Lone Star was just that. The buffet has a good selection of traditional barbecue offerings from beef to delicious fried chicken with all of the wonderful side dishes. Baked mac, tomato casserole, collard greens, and much more. The fun part was the buildings that the restaurant is housed. They are s series of four all filled with items from the 40's 50's and maybe the 60's just like a mercantile.

“Fun Place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

This started out wonderful but last few visits were very disappointing. Serving line began running low on food and not replacing with fresh items. Staff was kind but certainly not overly friendly. Sure don't know why they aren't what they used to be.

“Interesting atmosphere.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2014

The atmosphere was interesting with its old buildings and rustic decor. The food was good, but not great. Service was okay, pleasant but not especially attentive.

“Great Experience, Yummy Food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2014

I agree that when you arrive at Lone Star, it doesn't look very nice, but once you walk in and see how cute the general store is, you are an immediate fan! The food is served buffet style and I just loved the tomato pie! It's not a traditional Jersey/Penna tomato pie, it's more of a casserole with a custard like filling that was just heavenly. The pulled pork was really good, lots of choices, it was just so good! That night instead of a bluegrass band, we were entertained by a group of guys that played alternative music, and they were great! This is a great place to go, don't miss it!!!!
