“No BBQ to be found but great old buildings!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013 via mobile

We drove 140 miles round trip to try this great BBQ restaurant. We asked where is the BBQ? They had diced up pork that you could put this sauce on. The pork was cold! If you are looking for real BBQ don't come here! If you just want mediocre country cooking this is the place for you. I do have to say the service was good and the old buildings were interesting. Overall a bad BBQ experience!

“Tasty food, nice break from the road”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

Family stopped on a drive from VA to FL; found the comfort food delicious and the buffet waiting for us!

To be honest, as a Northerner, I never understood the appeal of fried chicken, having had an annual KFC meal as my only exposure. The fried chicken at this restaurant was crispy on the outside, hot and juicy on the inside. Now I "get" fried chicken, and will never eat KFC again. If only we lived closer to Santee, SC!

“Cute venue, lousy food.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013 via mobile

Visited on St. Patricks day in late afternoon while traveling down 95. The atmosphere was old country store and very cute. However the buffet left a lot to be desired. We read numerous recent reviews for this place and everyone raved about the place so we decided to try it. The fried chicken was dry, the pulled pork was dry and the unlimited Sunday desserts were sad and limited. The tomatoe pie and coleslaw were decent. Overall, overpriced, quality was certainly not home cooking, just very disappointing. Won't be our " must stop" in SC.

“Best dinner stop ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Wonderful place to stop on a road trip on I-95. Very close to highway--go through the town, take a right onto Santee State Park Road (at the edge of town) and you are there. The food was WONDERFUL--tomato pie and bread pudding were particularly notable. It's a buffet, something like $12/adult and half that price for kids, but for that you get a ton of food, iced tea/lemonade, dessert, plus a very enjoyable atmosphere. They were having a bluegrass concert the night we were there, and it was terrific. The servers are very helpful and kind, and we really enjoyed the old-timey atmosphere. We'll be back!

“A place time forgot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013 via mobile

Great food in a very unique setting. Good music from local pickers. Don't be turned off by the exterior appearance of the Lone Star. This is a must stop for dinner in Santee, SC.
